Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've not been up long - apparently I was tired after four days on the go! I'm just sitting down to my first cuppa and some breakfast. Aldi's honey yogurt with some fruit that needs eating. I'm not big on yogurt but this one's nice!

The girls are still in bed, but I can hear dd2 moving about, and their dad's at work until mid-day.

I plan to spend the day pottering in the kitchen which, atm, looks like a whirlwind has been through it 🤯 and setting it straight. I'll do some washing too and have two pairs of jeans I want to cut to my length.

Dd1 is going to start sorting her room - she keeps waffling about "having a week off", except she finished school 2 weeks ago so I'll sit up there if I have to & instruct. No idea what dd2 plans to do, probably just mooch about 🤷‍♀️

Roast chicken dinner today for tea 😋we've not had one for a few weeks & I really fancy it. Followed by giant pastries later on (shared between us again, they're that big!).

I'll spend some time finishing a crochet project later on & probably have another fairly early night too.

What about you? 🙂

Good morning everyone.

We had to get up early to take Papa to the airport as he has a job interview in Sweden tomorrow. We had a busy day yesterday due to London pride, as the rugby team I’m in are in the parade there is a lot of waiting around and a very early start while you wait for your slot.

Lots to do today as we’ve had a busy week and very few weekends at home recently, school uniform has only just gone in the wash, then I need to sort out mine and my husbands work clothes. I’ve been lazy and ordered some food shopping, as I’m lazy we’ll likely go out for lunch as well.

I’ve got some exams coming up, so I’m hoping I can get some time tonight to do a bit of studying.

Morning @lucysmam!

I love these threads too. Always find them so comforting.

I was up early and had a relaxing time with the dog before DH appeared. Took the dog for her first walk for three weeks. She had surgery and hasn’t been allowed walks. She loved it. Short walks these days as she’s 13 now.

Did a wash and hung it out. Ended up having to rewash two white tops of mine which still had makeup on. Annoying, Washed a new nice jug I bought yesterday. About to quickly run the vacuum around. Should do some ironing but not sure I can be bothered. Tomorrow is another day!

Italian pork chops with roast potatoes, carrots, peas and cauliflower cheese here for dinner. Italian just means cooked with lots of butter and garlic - they are really nice and tasty.

BreviloquentBastard · 02/07/2023 11:43

Sunday is my duvet day so I've been in bed reading all morning! Husband just brought me a coffee and he's started cooking brunch so the smell of bacon will have me up and meandering downstairs any moment.

Daughter is out with friends doing whatever it is teenage girls do all day.

I plan to do as little as possible.

Heading out shortly. A team of people are about to get a surprise E number boost. Just 'because'.

Beautiful cake!

We’ve been for a walk along the sea front. Tide’s up and one or two people were in the sea. It’s a bit breezy along there.

I’m about to have something to eat when I can decide what. DH is sorting out dinner for this evening. I should do some gardening if I can be bothered. The philadelphus needs sorting.

Awww, nice thread, thank you @lucysmam Flowers

I have been pissing about on the internet for 2 hours, (done bits of washing and washing up in between,) but need to get off it now, as I have a few more chores to do, and some gardening, and I need to do my daily 2-mile walk!!! (It's already getting a bit stuffy. Better go soon!)

Hope everyone is having a great day. Smile

FridaRose · 02/07/2023 11:11

@FlorencenotRatchet I used to absolutely love my morning 10km runs!

I can't do that now with a 1 year old; post long morning long run I used to have a very lazy and chilled day. No chance now as DS wears me out by 3pmGrin

And I'm on my own with him this week so couldn't even do a short run.

Definitely sets you up for the day but so hard to do with young children.
What about getting a three wheeler buggy and taking them with you?

mondaytosunday · 02/07/2023 12:31

Came downstairs at 8 to feed the cats let the dogs out promising myself I'd go back to bed. Instead had breakfast and I'm still down here doing stuff on my phone! I need to get showered and walk the dogs and sort some laundry... lazy lazy lazy

CoodleMoodle · 02/07/2023 12:33

DH and I spent the morning trying to put our new washing line spike in. It took forever. Thankfully the DC entertained themselves and let us get on with it.

Currently having lunch, on Sunday all screen rules are off. DS4 is watching Spidey, DD9 is watching her tablet, DH is watching something about cars on the PC, and I'm browsing MN. After lunch we're going to the nature centre down the road. They've got a baby capybara and I NEED to see it 😍

I still need to wash my hair, change our bed sheets and make sure the school uniform is ready. No homework this weekend, thankfully.

AssertiveGertrude · 02/07/2023 12:37

Hi Lucysmam and to you all
had a rare night out so relaxing this morning
I had one steak in the fridge so I chopped that up with all the peppers and carrots I could find lurking and will throw that in a pan for dinner for dh and I later

kids had a big breakfast so ok for a while and I will make something for them - they love tortillas at the moment

I have someone over from Facebook marketplace for something I’ve been trying to get rid of for a while - that’s it really

OwlRightThen · 02/07/2023 12:38

Had a lovely lie in and a cuppa in bed. Then got up and did a kettle bell workout with dh, it reminded us both how unfit we've become! Had a bath and a pamper after and have sorted some washing. Hubby now wants to pop to Aldi and b and m, dangerous stuff lol. The kids are all older now so please themselves which makes our weekends much more relaxing, although I did have a browse on H&M earlier and I miss all the cute little dresses and character t shirts we used to buy them. I'm hoping to cut out a south shore romper pattern this afternoon.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 02/07/2023 12:49

Good afternoon Lucysmam and others. I'm late on today. I have had the tumble dryer on as we have really heavy showers today so washing done yesterday needs dried. Most of it is on the clothes horse but duvet cover, sheets and towels are in the dryer. I went to Tesco for stuff I forgot to order on Friday. Then I did a dry run to a soft play where I'm taking two grandsons tomorrow morning. After that DD and the boys popped in to wreck my house. Dgs1 was thrilled that I had bought a watermelon so he'll have loads tomorrow. Dgs2 was grumpy because he needed a nap. I've roasted a chicken and I might clean the windows inside then iron. Enjoy your day everyone

Rowgtfc72 · 02/07/2023 13:03

Afternoon!
Just got back from the monthly sausage dog walk. About 20 dachsunds of various colours and sizes.
We left dd at home. She also finished school two weeks ago and is supposed to be cleaning her room.
Still not surfaced.

CosmosQueen · 02/07/2023 13:05

Good afternoon @lucysmam et al, I was up at 6.30, awake since 4am so feeling a bit 🫤
Took dog for a lovely walk from the next village, it was breezy but warm and very quiet.
Came back and put a load of washing on, it’s now on the line. Fiddled around trying to work out what watercolour colours to put in a new palette, got thoroughly confused seeking a definitive answer online so gave up . I will go back to it later.
Cooked green Thai curry for lunch, now half-watching TdeF while knitting a jumper (painfully slow growing because it’s for me (more used to knitting for DGCs)
Ddog is snoring, I’m wrapped up in fleece, jeans, socks and a blanket because I feels cold (my toes and feet were an interesting shade of blue! 🙄)
Enjoy the rest of today!

Kiwiandstrawberries · 02/07/2023 13:22

Son and husband away this weekend and back later this evening. They were in the round the island yacht race yesterday on IOW. I was in bed until 11am with dog ,toast and tea . Have been out for a doggy walk and now eating scrambled eggs with mixed herbs, mushrooms and grated cheese…absolutely bloody amazing!
No plans for pm ,friend wanted to meet up but I said I am literally enjoying doing nothing and not having to talk to anyone!! She 100% understands.
Another dog walk later and shall cook a meal with loads of veg and carbs for when the guys get home.

lucysmam · 02/07/2023 13:47

@Rowgtfc72 I am glad I'm not the only one with a teen supposed to be cleaning up their room. It's utter chaos in there & she just shifts stuff into bags 🙈 I may be as well off supervising tbh!

They're back from Asda with 2 boxes of cereal, and cookies, because they couldn't decide what I'd want 🤷‍♀️

Now both of them are off back up to carry on their rooms & I'm going to finish cleaning the fridge.

@lucysmam I am supervising after the F1. She gets more done if I sit in the room and chat to her. Rather concerned about the half bowl of chips that has been on the windowsill since Wednesday.
She will spend hours tidying her sock drawer- no shuffling of things into bags here unfortunately!

DD(14) went up to sort out all of her books into ones she is keeping and what we are donating.

All I can hear is her practising guitar for the last 2 hours!

Ilovelurchers · 02/07/2023 14:19

DD and I got up early and did some work on our allotment. Then went shopping just to the local shops as she wanted a new Switch game. Now she is playing that while we watch a few episodes of Death in Paradise!

DH has gone to the cricket. Hope it doesn't rain.

ssd · 02/07/2023 16:50
