Reaction to paper

Hi I had posted on "behaviours" but moved it here for some traffic.
I am just wondering if anyone else has heard of this or had experience with it?
My DD10, has always been a bit irritated by scratching of paper but over the years it's got worse where she doesn't like to touch it much (but will write on it as long as her nail doesn't scratch it) or doesn't like her friends in school touching it in fear of one of them scratching it
She said earlier out of the blue that it's getting worse and it makes her brain explode :-(
Recently diagnosed with DCD if this helps. School let her use a laptop mostly as her writing is too small and takes her much longer to write compare to her friends
Thanks

Sounds like a sensory processing issue. She is neurodivergent (with diagnosed DCD) and sensory processing differences are common as part of that.

School should make reasonable adjustments for her if she is unable to tolerate the feel / sound of paper.

Reading about misophonia and sensory processing issues might be helpful. She needs to be allowed to sit away from others writing on paper and allowed to remove herself from it.

Sounds like it could be misophonia where people get a strong emotional response to sounds most people would see as minor.

I wonder if something like Loop earplugs could help? You can still hear conversation through them but they can dull or remove quieter background noise, I have adhd and find the, helpful in overstimulating environments.

There's a woman on Instagram (Everyday OT) and her autistic daughter has this issue. She has posted about it before. It's an Irish Instagram page. The child has accommodations at school for the paper issue
