The wedding is coming up soon. DS has known the groom since he was 5 and has been asked to be best man. DS is really shy and is struggling to come up with a speech.
Does anyone have any tips for preparing a speech?

I was at a wedding a few years back and the best man did a video. He got friends and family of the groom to share a short story or ancedote. He also included photographs, videos, music and got a well known soccer star to say something ( he knew the groom from soccer when they were growing up) It was absolutely brilliant.

It was funny, nostalgic, emotional at times and it gave those closest to him a chance to share their experiences with him on his wedding day.

That is lovely that DS has been asked to be best man. He just needs to think of say 3 funny episodes and then say something nice about your future husband. He can always embellish the episodes. Perhaps start by saying something about how your future husband treated him when the two of you started having a relationship. Guys in that sitution always go over the top with the sons of a girlfriend. Perhaps something about breakfast together the first time your future husband slept with you at your home and stayed overnight. Those situations are awkward but easy to make fun a bout your future husband's embarrassment

When giving the speech, focus just above everyone's head and don't look them in the face - no one will notice and it's easier to distance yourself from the audience.
