Jilly Cooper recommendations please

I'm going on holiday in a few weeks and am planning 10 days on a sun lounger with a cocktail and a book. I really want some easy escapism, and Jilly Cooper (or similar) fits the bill perfectly. I've read all of the Rutshire chronicles, and whilst I'm not averse to re-reading them I'm wondering whether it's worth branching out into her other work. I know there are lots of books with women's names as the titles (Octavia etc) but I've never read any and I'm hesitant to order loads and take them at the expense of tried and tested options if I won't like them! Can anyone advise or offer reviews please?

Mount was better than Wicked. Wicked just was all wrong. I loved the Common Years too. And if you read that, then Between the Covers, you see all sorts of cross points!

I hated Wicked. Mount was a bit better but Etta was so wet.

Wicked was all kinds of wrong, Jump was a bit of a let-down IMO and I couldn’t bring myself to read Mount after catching a spoiler for a plot point that was just HELL NO, HOW COULD YOU JILLY?

BestIsWest · 01/07/2023 20:05

Good grief yes, I devoured all the Judith Krantz books. I learned so much from them (not just the sex).

Did it involve Rupert and Butter ...?

I can't believe some of the books I read in my early teens - Riders, all the Jackie Collins books, Princess Daisy, Mistral's Daughter and especially Lace. So many rape scenes which were supposed to be erotic, child sex abuse images (Lace?). I can't imagine I'd get much pleasure from reading them now, but I absolutely loved them at the time!

Like others on here, I love Marian Keyes. She tackles some really heavy subjects (addiction, domestic abuse etc) in a very, very readable way.

I loved Flavour of the Month Grin

I have to add Sidney Sheldon to this trash fest. I think it was one of his that had boarding school shenanigans?
