HMRC tax code issue

I have two jobs- a part time job 0.6 for which I earn about 27k/year and then some bank work which I do maybe 3 weeks out of four (average income from this is about £250/month). Previously I was charged BR for this and my tax free allowance was allocated to my main job.
HMRC this month have given me a T tax code and appear to have split my tax free allowance between my two ‘jobs’. This has given me £300 less in my main job pay packet and is just crazy- my second job is bank only and with my current hours I won’t even meet the tax free allowance amount it’s given me. I’m now down money this month and worried how it will be resolved. Obviously I’m going to ring HMRC but can they just change the codes like that?
Why would I they do it? And even if they do change it back I’m guessing I won’t see that £300 reduction this month?
Things are already tight I’m doing extra bank nursing to make ends meet and then this happens. Aaargh!!

Yes if you call they should change the tax code there and then and will send notices to your employers.

It appears HMRC are either on strike or working from home, we have an important issue that needs resolving and we cannot get anything out of them.

it is another disgraceful episode by highly paid civil servants

Working from home doesn't mean they're not working. I'm a hybrid worker and I'm much more productive on my days at home.

However it did take me half an hour to get through to HMRC about childcare vouchers yesterday. Picked up straight away and they took all my details and verified me, then I was put back in another queue for 30mins and then needed to give all my details again,so what was the point of the first pick up if there isn't going to be any sort of warm handover? The most annoying thing was the five separate 'press 1/2/3' platforms to get through at the start of calling them, none of which have the option of 'we've called you and asked you to call back' so I had to guess what the issue was as they hadn't said in their message.

I think like everywhere they're just massively under resourced on the phone lines to be honest, for cost reasons I guess.

In fairness I rang at 8 on the dot and after going through the annoying automated thing spoke to a lovely lady immediately who fixed it all. No issue for me if they’re wfh it’s the long wait whether they are usually but I was very impressed!
