Moving objects

Has anyone had stuff 'move' in their house? Just me and DH no other residents, no pets. We were out all afternoon a few months ago and when we got back I walked into the house and immediately noticed a difference. Thought the sofa had been moved but I think now it was a piece of furniture that had moved. The gap between it and the sofa was noticeably smaller.
There have been other things but these could potentially all be explained (although they're bloody odd) but the sofa thing is impossible because nobody was in!

Anyone else have a key?

Have you changed the locks since you moved in? This applies whether your home is owned or rented.

If rented, your landlord could be gaining access without notice and permission.

Could your DH be going home when you think he is at work?

Are you sure you always lock the external doors and windows?

Not forgetting the MN classic: Have you checked inside your loft in case someone is living up there or gaining access from a neighbouring house through a gap in the roof space walls?

We own the house. We replaced the front door about three years ago. Before that, my in-laws had a spare key to the front door only, but nobody has a key now other than us.
DH and I were together the entire time on the day the furniture moved so it couldn't have been him.
On a separate occasion after that I noticed that three bottles had been lined up neatly in the bathroom cabinet. DH said he couldn't remember doing it but that he must have done it without thinking as that's the only explanation.
I'm fairly untidy so I wouldn't normally notice if things move.

I'd be less concerned about someone coming in when you go out, and more concerned about whether someone is already in.

There's no-one in the loft as there's too much junk in it!
