AirBnB how do you know it isn't a scam?

My friend has taken charge of accomodations this time for our group weekend away. Usually we book accommodation directly, through Booking or Expedia.

This time it has been booked on AIrBnB. The listing has disappeared. A search of FAQ suggests this can happen if the accommodation is fully booked.

Has anyone booked accommodation and turned up to find it doesn't exist?

I’ve had a few lovely stays in U.K. B&B’s, never had any issues but I’ve always checked reviews before booking.

Even if the listing is no longer available on the site your friend will have the booking details and reference in her AirB&B account and copies of the booking will have been emailed to her. She contact the seller through the booking. She can also contact AirB&B to check the status of the reservation and that the host is still an active member.

If the host has deleted their account and gone incognito then AirB&B can then auto cancel the booking and refund. They offer a guarantee and won’t quibble if it’s clear there are pre-stay issues with the host.

The FAQs are correct that the listing simply won’t show up in searches if it’s fully booked for the dates you’re searching for, that’s standard so that you aren’t shown unavailable properties, which would be pointless. It doesn’t mean it’s a scam.

Thanks @ComtesseDeSpair

I will check that host and booking are still active.
