Best lightweight school polo shirts, school shorts that can cope with lots of washing

Which brand of polo shirt do you recommend that are lightweight, wash well, and cut to fit a long tall kid? Can be any solid colour, black, navy, red, royal blue preferred. DS aged 12 also needs some pol shirts in white as well

and where can I get black & navy school cotton shorts with pockets that are knee length for a tall slim boy, ideally with am adjustable waist or half-elasticated waist at the back? Have only seen sport shorts & cargo shorts or casual patterned ones

background: We live in a hot, humid country, & are visiting U.K. family this August. Clothes here are expensive so planning to stock up for school for next two years.
Will stores still sell summer-weight clothing in August or is it going to be all autumn winter stuff? I can order online now and send to SIL.

thanks,

I like the Tu Sainsburys school polo shirts, they are inexpensive, in a wide range of colours and the ones I’ve had wash well. We’ve also had George at Asda ones that were perfectly fine. My tall DD wears white for school and they got ruined by markers or red paint before she grew out of them.

I’ve not seen any school shorts or trousers in cotton though sorry, most appear to be polyester stain resistant non-iron type material.

The best polo shirts I got for my son were from Pep & Co at Poundland. They were £2 each the last time I looked. Thick 100% cotton and withstood multiple washes and bleaching when necessary. I also rate the TU ones. Can't comment on shorts because sensory issues meant my son was allowed to wear jersey ones, which I got from Primark.

The supermarket polos have always fared better than the more expensive (eg M&S) versions. And at c£3 for a set you don't mind replacing halfway through the year.

The best trousers and shorts have come from M&S, but they're not cotton. They last for ages, the waistband is adjustable and on the trousers, they have adjustable hems for updating halfway through the year.

Also came on to say Sainsburys for polo shirts! They seem to wash really well and stay in good shape. Probably best to order on online to get the sizes you need.

Thanks v much for help everyone
The Sainsbury’s Tu ones seem to only go up to age 12 and DS is tall and long so I guess I need 13,14, 15 year old sizes, can’t find them on site, has anyone seen them in stores?
George at ASDA has teen sizes, does anyone have experience with dark colours washing & wearing out?
M&S look like they have navy longer style slim-fit school shorts

M&S are the only polo tops I find don't fade with multiple washes and they're non iron 👌🏻

M and s for us - adjustable waist, don't fade as much also do longer length items. I've also noticed as they've become teens there's less availability in supermarkets plus there is less of a range in shorts for teens anyway as most schools only allow trousers.
Could you order them to the UK address your staying at as your more likely to get summer items online, also m and s usually do their school sale in July.

Polos, for longevity order a brand that supplies commercial clothing such as Fruit of the Loom, etc. You can order them online in plain colours in kids and adults sizes. Polos are normally cotton/polyester mix, they are bulletproof and fade less than the cotton ones. DH has dozens of polo shirts for his business so we see how they last over the years.

Shorts , Trutex are pretty reliable. Next have a good range of sizes. Cotton will always fade in dark colours, you might as well buy a few pods of Dylon to refresh the colour when it needs it.
