Scams on Facebook

I'm keeping an eye on FB marketplace for garden furniture. What are all these posts with apparently brand new expensive sets that would retail for £££ allegedly priced at £62 or £79? What goes on there if you decide to contact them? Are these accounts that have been hacked?

I've noticed that @Katisha, particularly with egg chairs! The prices can't be real, so
I'm pretty sure they're a scam.

And beds, which is bloody annoying as I'm looking for a frame

I assume it is drug related? But no real reason why I think that.

They are just after some poor sod to bank transfer them money.

You probably find that is just for the cushion or something, it's for attention and then you click on it and the real price ends up being much more.

I've noticed this as well, and I was wondering if it's dolls house furniture.

VisionsOfSplendour · 27/06/2023 20:50

I don't think there is anything for sale, I guess they want people to interact with the post in some way to try whatever their scam ia

I've noticed this too! I've been looking for a garden shed and there are a surprising number of different sellers offering identical new sheds for the bargain price of £79. The photos on each profile show the shed in various different gardens/locations, but strangely the multiple different sellers all seem to have the same photos. Looking at the sellers' details, they also offer garden furniture (and self-cleaning cat litter boxes 🤔). The sellers' profiles do, however, look genuine. It's really strange and I can't quite see how it works.

The guy on my Facebook marketplace selling garden furniture for £79 has 6 friends and no posts. I’m tempted to message him to see what happens but then again, I don’t want to unwittingly expose myself to a scam.
