Selling stuff advice needed

Hi all

I'm looking for advice about how to sell second hand items. I'm really don't know what I'm doing. I've got a load of stuff I'd like to sell, particularly clothes. I've just got too much and I don't have the room for it.

What's the best way to go about it? eBay? Vinted? What do other people do?

Thanks for any tips!!

Vinted for clothes definitely, unless it's high value.

eBay is only worth doing if your item is more than £5 in my opinion, and always list on the 80%/70% off final value fee period, which comes around every fortnight.

Be realistic about your prices. Is it a run of the mill Next item that you can still get in the shop? If so, don't expect much more than 50% of what you paid for it, especially if you've worn it already.

However, if it's popular and rare, then you might do well to auction it.

Take good photos in decent light, at different angles and close ups of any details.

In the description, be clear about condition and include measurements.

I started with things that were easy to get rid of:

Old tax papers and other paperwork from way back
Appliance manuals that were unlikely to be needed regularly (most can be found online nowadays)
Old electronic bits and bobs, computer cables etc
Bits of fabric or wool and the like left over from 'projects'
Cans of paint left over from the penultimate redecorating project
Books and magazines that I was unlikely to read again or which I'd been 'meaning to read one day' for quite a while
Clothes/shoes that were worn, no longer fitted well, didn't suit me or my current lifestyle anymore, etc
Old sheets, towels blankets
Ornaments and anything that could be termed useless clutter
Old pans/dishes and kitchen gadgets that served no purpose
Sentimental stuff that used to mean something but I had moved on from
Unnecessary duplicates - aka dump the old and actually use the lovely new stuff

I didn't bother with trying to sell. Just used charity shops and Freecycle for anything that was in good condition and binned the rest.
