I am exhausted with anxiety over this, please can anyone help?

There’s been a couple of accidents in the house where dc has actually trodden poo into the carpet in places, maybe a pound coin size in a few places. Obviously I use a wet wipe to remove and get rid of the staining and then hoover but I keep thinking the bacteria is still there isn’t it?! I worry about younger baby crawling over it, having mouth on the floor etc etc.

Please can anyone just tell me how anxious they would be about this and what they would do? I am having treatment for my anxiety so please don’t tell me I am awful for not dealing with it because I am. I assume this sort of this happens in other households with young children, what do you do and how worried would you be about baby on the floor?

Anxiety comes from MH problems, unrelated to logic about actual cleanliness.

OP your baby will be fine. Maybe you could ring an advice line such as mind's, for some more support for you?

In the toilet training stage, one of mine pooed on the floor, and picked it up and ate it before I could get to him 😱He's 8 now and seems fine. He was also a terror for eating sand whenever we went to the beach, wax crayons and gravel, occasionally.

Thank God we're past that stage, it was exhausting.

Good luck op, you're in the middle of the really difficult stage, it does get better. Go easy on yourself.

I would scrape off what I could, then sponge it thoroughly with disinfectant, such as Dettol, then use a carpet cleaner, Vanish or whatever. And then relax - nobody is going to be made ill.

@chemistnightmare You clearly understand nothing at all about mental health issues. That is one of the most ignorant comments I’ve ever read.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean it to be. I definitely understand some mental health problems I suffer extreme anxieties myself and if one of the things making me anxious is that something isn't cleaned properly or done right I will clean or do it again and again and again

Sorry I was clearly way off then but it works for me, that's all, didn't mean to be offensive or upsetting

@chemistnightmare I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you either. I’m really happy that works for you but for some people that can lead to a horrible downward spiral of OCD like behaviour

But I appreciate you sharing what worked for you and hope it’s helpful for the OP. I shouldn’t have been so dismissive, apologies.

@chemistnightmare thats from @TheBossOfMe posting from a different username because I’m to dumb to remember my logins so have two names across different devices 😂

I would be zero anxious.
