At a school summer fair? And how much for festival style (but basic - I'm not artistic) glitter ?
I'm thinking £2 for facepaint and £1 for glitter for good throughout but do you think people would pay more?

I've seen as much as £20 for professionals, is the person doing it any good?

SnotSnotSnottySnot · 25/06/2023 17:22

I'm a but crap, and warn parents! Usually charge three quid, and they're always happy!

SnotSnotSnottySnot · 25/06/2023 17:22

A bit ..not a but!

riotlady · 25/06/2023 17:38

I’d do at least £3 for face paint and £2 for glitter, face paint is always really popular so you might as well make the school some money

Slobberchops1 · 25/06/2023 17:42

£1 is plenty if your not a professional

Alwaysoneoddsock · 25/06/2023 17:45

Would anyone at the school struggle to pay that amount?

You could have a suggested donation instead of a price and something like an opaque box so parents / carers aren’t embarrassed if they can’t put the full amount in the box.

We went to a local park around the coronation that were doing it for 4quid she didn't have anyone waiting. The previous day the town were doing it for free which was put on by the council aswell as music and free rides. A school summer fete should be no more than 2quid.

Are you meaning something like a little rainbow on their cheek or are you talking full on tiger/butterfly face

mondaytosunday · 25/06/2023 17:57

If it's just a two minute flower on the cheek thing then £1. If it's whole face taking 5-10 minutes then £5. Not sure what you mean by glitter - I'd charge the same?

GoodVibesHere · 25/06/2023 17:59

I'd pay max £2.50 in total, I wouldn't particularly pay extra for glitter

Pahaha, £20 for something you'll wash off a few hours later

batmansbike · 25/06/2023 18:05

It was 20p this weekend at our school

BelindaBears · 25/06/2023 18:08

I paid £4 at a church fete the other week (well it was a “suggested donation”, the face paint was amazing but took ages and there was a massive queue. I’d rather pay less and it be quicker and not as good.

Wow really? I don't think we'd even cover costs at that for the paint etc. Great to make it accessible though
It's me and other parents. One I think will be very talented but modest and me and another lady doing festival type glitter around the eyes. Very much not professional. We looked into hiring someone but it didn't come to anything so like a lot of stuff at the fair it gets done by volunteers ...

The 2 minute flower on a cheek is what I'm hoping we offer if I have to do any!!

Between £4-5.00 for a full face would be what I would expect to pay

Flippper · 25/06/2023 21:18

It was between £2 and £5 at our summer fair this weekend. Average middle class area. £2 was for really quite a small glittery stencil but I didn't question it. Nothing out our fair is less than 50p and very little under £1.

veryfluffyfluff · 25/06/2023 21:20

£5

Wanttobemorechilliheeler · 25/06/2023 21:21

We just paid £2 for a half face sort of painting. Included glitter. Had a constant queue

For a school summer fair, your pricing seems quite reasonable! £2 for face paint and £1 for glitter is affordable and likely to attract a lot of interest. However, it's always worth considering the quality and experience you're offering. Professional artists typically charge more because they can deliver high-standard face painting and have years of practice. Their rates often start from £5+ due to their expertise and ability to paint 15-18 faces per hour. Depending on your setup and the demand at the fair, you might find that people are willing to pay a bit more for a festival-style glitter experience. It's all about finding the right balance between affordability and value for your attendees. Good luck with your summer fair! www.glitter-arty.com
