Dear God, please share your midge bite relief tips

Bitterly regretting the series of life choices that culminated with my visit to a nature reserve in Ireland without insect repellent. I only saw one, barely visible teeny insect biting me but I now know he was just careless in revealing his preference 😒

I've about 60 - 70 midge bite across my chest and neck. I'm on fire. I've tried three different insect bite creams, and the anti histamine cream had eased it the tiniest amount. I already take prescription antihistamines for hayfever and even though I know they're one a day, I've increased to two as it's unbearable. I've tried cold wet towels to take the heat out, hot baths, cold baths. Nothings helping and I'm feeling maddened by it...

Any suggestions? I have to go out on public this afternoon and DC have suggested that I wear a scarf to hide them all...

Tiger balm.

I've had relief pressing a cotton ball soaked in 90% rubbing alcohol onto bites from spiders, mozzies, and wasp stings. Adding an antihistamine helps, too.

How have things worked out for you since you posted? I've had midgie bites in Oz, (f-ing awful bites!), but never that many. You have my sympathy. It must be torture. 💐

Sorry, OP. Just saw your post that a hot spoon helped you.

Am fascinated by the hot teaspoon. Never heard of it before.
A little tube of Teatree oil cream is a good all rounder too.
Get mine cheap as chips from places like Savers and Poundland etc.

I tried the hairdryer yesterday. It was amazing. I wish I had known that heat took the itch away for hours so many years ago - I'm the poster girl for insect bites, I react really strongly and they always find me... I was on holiday on Rhodes once and got more than 150 bites in one night. My then boyfriend and I spent a really desperate week miserably rubbing ineffective cream in to my many many red throbbing bumps...

Been awake since 5 itching, but the hairdryers in the spare room with DH and I don't want to wake him as he hasn't been sleeping well. About to go make myself a cup of hot water, and equip myself with a teaspoon... Still regretting those life choices.

It was a terrible year in south west France for them last year, apparently, even the locals were demented. The clicker thing helped but the best relief I had was holding an ice cube directly on the bites for as long as I could bear.
