Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa & having breakfast in my kitchen spot. The girls are still sleeping & their dad's at work again so it's nice and quiet down here 😊

The washer's on for the towels & there's pots to go away, but not much else in the way of housework being done today.

We're going to have a steady one after a bit of a shopping spree yesterday. I had an absolute ball & we sorted prom shoes and jewellery for all of £8, so the ones we ordered originally are likely to be returned if/when they do turn up 🤷‍♀️

I plan to do a bit more painting of a prop for work - I'm re-painting it & it's taking quite a few coats to cover what I struggled to sand off of the original paint 🙄 Also need to find some eyes for a crochet project. I'm thinking glittery blue but no idea where to find them!

Dd2 will probably play with her new make up, and wants me to shape her nails - she's been working on not biting & is doing really well. Dd1 will likely just mooch in pj's.

I think my dad's coming for a brew & he will, no doubt, have done us some sort of shopping which I'll have to jenga into the fridge.

There's some braising steak defrosted that I'll turn into a pie for tea & we'll have with mash and some sort of veg 😋 After that, showers all round, and chill for the evening. I'll probably head to bed early since we're out early for prom nails being done.

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning lucysmam - sounds like you bagged a real bargain!
I have been off work for a week with an infected leg which isn’t healing as quickly as I’d hoped. The doc gave me another lot of antibiotics so I think I’ll start those today. Sadly it’s looking like DH & I may have to cancel our London trip (we’re supposed to be seeing Take That in Hyde Park). The tickets can’t be sold but at least we can get the hotel money back.
Not much planned for today. I need a few bits from Asda. Stir fry with bacon & egg noodles for tea. I was going to do it last night but then really fancied chips!

Can you borrow a fold up wheelchair? I’ve worked on the gates there and they’re very good at dealing with mobility issues. Too late to get on the accessible platform but it might save your day

That sounds like a lovely, calm day @lucysmam
Great to hear about the bargains secured yesterday! 😁

We had been looking forward to sitting quietly in a shady spot in the garden today… but the neighbors spent all yesterday screaming and shouting in their swimming pool which then turned into a karaoke party which was still going on at midnight.. so would imagine today will follow a similar pattern.. 😕

Enjoy your day and hope everything’s going well with the treatment 🌟

Work. Got in at 06.15. Then the other receptionist got in at 07.00. Shit! Meant to be working 2 to 8!!! Cannot face going home again as the world and his dog get on lunch time and it is too hot to go out again! So I am trawling through Mumsnet at work!

Love these threads!

I was up early for a work thing (home visits) then caught an extra hour’s sleep. DH is making cooked breakfast/brunch now and I’ve had a cup of tea.

I’m looking forward to watching the tennis final in a while, then another work visit. Not sure what’s for tea yet; might have a fridge picnic as we have some cold meats and cheeses etc. I’ll have a cider too.

Up early and watered the plants. Fed the cat and played with him. My oldest son called in to drop off some washing for me to do (I don’t mind in the least) My youngest son is at his girlfriend’s. Looking so forward to Elton at Glasto tonight. Should be great finale

Need to take DS2 out for another expedition to find acceptable shoes for his leavers' dinner after we witnessed the rejection of, seemingly, every black shoe in Aberystwyth earlier in the month...

RabbitsRock · 25/06/2023 17:01

MMAMPWGHAP I wondered about that but it’s the walking from the hotel to the tube, the tube to Hyde Park etc as well. Plus I have a very low pain threshold & I’ve really been struggling - I think everything is starting to heal but that brings more pain, itching etc.

RabbitsRock · 25/06/2023 17:03

DH has found that actually we can sell the tickets although we won’t get the whole amount back.

Chelsea26 · 25/06/2023 17:18

Had a lay in this morning as was at my friend’s 50th birthday last night. DP got up and walked the dog then brought me up coffee.

currently sitting in the sun watching him play cricket with the MIL. DDog has got a spot in the shade and is sleeping happily unless woken by cheeky squirrels!

Will have a glass of wine or two when the match is over and then stroll home, stopping for either Parmesan cheese so I can make fresh pesto or a take away on the way.

Lovely Sunday

Decafflatteplease · 25/06/2023 17:22

Oh I missed this somehow this morning @lucysmam . Pie and mash for dinner sounds lovely!

We've had a busy day out at a national trust place. .Cool and rainy but we still had a great time, kids absolutely filthy the sign of a good day 😊 have thrown everything in a waterproof bag and will sort tomorrow. We've got a whole load of spare clothes permanently in the car! Car more like a tank 😂 for all disabled DC stuff so the boot doubles as a change space.

About to grab a McDonald's on the way home then the usual bath bed routine for DC. And as it's a Sunday that means self care Sunday so bath with a g and t and read my kindle for me
