I don't mean things like toaster/kettle etc, I mean little things that she won't think of and I actually can't think of right now either, which is why I'm asking here. 😂 So far I have a trolley token and pens and I'm doing this to take my mind off the fact that she's leaving home in a couple of months and I think my heart might actually break (through I'd never show her that).

3m charging cable in case the sockets are in weird places

@WillowtreeHouse Oh,it's awful- but it does get better, I promise! I had to stop at a service station on the way home from dropping dd off because I wanted to wail and thought I wasn't safe driving!

I didn't give her a box by the way- I sent her a parcel after a couple of weeks. She still remembers getting that parcel and it's nearly 10 years ago.

A really decent knife. And cutlery that doesn’t look like everyone else’s (element of hoping when you buy it). We sent ours off with several of everything (plates/side plates/bowls) but they have both said it should be only 2 of each.

I always buy lots of decent washing tabs and fabric conditioner as they realise it’s expensive when they have to buy it themselves.

And the best non-essential? An instax camera. My son’s uni house this year was decorated with the photos! And judging by the number of films he buys on my amazon prime account 🤨, it’s very popular. when my eldest left uni, he put them all in albums a great keepsake.

Yes to sliders!

Also a fan as the room was boiling and some plants.

If it’s a halls of residence with a shared laundry then check if the machines are coin operated and get a big bag of change from the bank.
earplugs if she likes her sleep.
corkscrew / bottle opener
a decent bathrobe if she’s in halls with shared bathrooms
extension cables
a couple of bag for life type bags

Both of the laundries in my 2 sons’ halls were operated by apps. I think coin operated machines are no longer the norm.

Yes, Circuit Laundries are in a large part of university launderettes now. So much less faff!
