I've just had breakfast - Marvin couldn't wait 🙄) and am about to drink my first cuppa of the day. The window and door are wide open & I can hear the wood pigeons cooing away. Little robin's bobbing about on the roof of the shed 😊

The girls are both sleeping & their dad's working overtime so it's nice and quiet, just how I like my weekend mornings to start.

I have the uniform washing in the machine already & may do a second load, of towels, when that's done. Other than that and pots (always washing & pots!) the house is pretty clean and tidy.

We're heading into town today rather than pottering here - I've been ok after every chemo so figure a steady mooch will be alright. And, if not, we'll get a taxi back.

Dd1 needs emergency prom shoes and jewellery for Prom on Thursday. Hers have shipped but not arrived so she's crossing everything they do arrive but needs back up 🤞 Dd2's asked for some cheap make-up to practise with, so we'll likely head to Primarni to see what they have - some of it's not bad & I might pick up a second of a 90p lippy dd1 bought me, as a spare. It lasts really well for the price, even through eating!

No idea what plans are for tonight, I will probably crochet & the girls vanish to their rooms after tea and showers. Tea will be something from the freezer that doesn't require much thought and effort with us being out.

Anyway, enough rambling from me 🤣 I could talk all day! What are you lot up to? 🙂

I have plans to do the absolute bare minimum today. DD will be off to her dads in half an hour for the last time for a month. DH has jobs to do outside in the garage and I plan to put some washing on, sort the animals and then flop with my kindle and some snacks. It's been a long week, could do with a recharge of batteries

mondaytosunday · 24/06/2023 09:13

Woke up too early again (before 6am). Just finished breakfast and long text conversation with son, who must be an expert in self sabotage. He's 19, lives on his own and was really looking forward to an activity this morning. Scooter in the garage so had to take the bus. He was up in plenty of time but of course it was a rush in the end. He had trouble getting front door open (it sticks in the humidity) so kicked it open, then couldn't get it closed securely, then ran to the bus but forgot his wallet! So missed bus and missed the activity which was his highlight of the weekend. So now in a foul mood. But it's his own fault- this is not the first time he's had to rush and blown it.
Anyway, sorry for tangent! Plan is to mow the lawn, do some tidying and walk dogs (in fact should do that now before it heats up). Daughter still asleep. And there's a mountain of dishes in the kitchen which won't clean themselves!

@RedCrestedDragon thank you very much for the recommendation I hadn't heard of it, I will look it up 😊

Good morning Lucysmam and all. Mushroo many congratulations on your pregnancy. I hope you are keeping well.
I have showered, cleaned the bathroom, stripped the bed, washed bedding and hung it out. I've been to Aldi and loaded and put on the dishwasher. I've also taken money out and filled up the car with petrol. I'm being very smugly organised. Soon I'm off to meet a former colleague and good friend then we're going to the school fair, hence the need for cash. When I come back, I'll potter, flicking a duster and hoovering which never takes long. It's very humid here and quite uncomfortable so I hope it cools down soon. Very unlikely though.

I love your 'ramblings'.

I'm glad you've been doing ok after the chemo sessions. My friend was as sick as a dog after the first couple, but once they'd sorted out the anti sickness meds she was totally fine. She lost a lot of hair in the shower daily, so had it shaved off & it's since grown back really lovely, nicer than it was beforehand. She had a couple of wigs that McMillan helped her with.

i have a few jobs to do at home, then
picking up a friends DD from school (indie) at mid day and staying with her for the next 10 days while her Mum is away.

will go for a walk with her while she gets used to roller skating as she feels a bit silly/vulnerable on her own until she gets a bit of confidence on them.

Dinner & a film tonight.

Hope you have a nice (& productive) time in town

LBOCS2 · 24/06/2023 09:34

Morning all! Everyone seems very productive. I'm still in bed, even having had an early night last night. We went to a festival a fortnight ago and are only just staring to feel right again after two weeks of sleep and detoxing - I'm not enjoying this side of ageing!

The DC have swimming lessons this morning but DD1 broke her elbow in PE on Monday so I'm not sure how much appetite there is for it from DD2. We're doing our hour of volunteering at the school summer fair this afternoon. Other then that it's gardening and pottering.

Off to the beach, swim, picnic, ice creams and fairground. Home for fish and chips.

I was hoping to do something like that with friends DD tomorrow, but she has too much school work to do 🙇🏻‍♀️ I feel bad suggesting it now as she's a bit annoyed/sad we can't go. I've told her we can go as soon as school breaks up!

After being rudely awakened by my upstairs neighbour hoovering at 7am I’ve been lazing with a cup of tea in bed with the cat.

going to do an exercise class this morning then heading to town for lunch with the in-laws.

Were telling them im pregnant (first baby!) so should be a lovely surprise for them!

@Mushroo

you don't mention when you're going to be shoving your neighbours hoover pipe up their jacksy?!

😂 many plans for loud Glastonbury watching later!

tinydancer88 · 24/06/2023 09:48

Having a slow morning with a coffee. Got a friend’s birthday lunch a bit later and feeling a little anxious as I only really know them and their partner. Planning to potter about at home later or maybe go for a swim.

That's one option!!

plus 'payback' in a few months time!!!

JamSandle · 24/06/2023 09:54

I'm meeting a friend in ten minutes. We are going to have brunch and go for a walk.

Then I'm heading home, going to the gym, doing some tidying and packing for a holiday.

Simonjt · 24/06/2023 09:55

Morning all, we’re at glastonbury, we were very late in bed, so the baby only woke up at about 9:15!

I’ve slept funny so I can’t move my neck, so I’m going to be making various dad grunts today when I moved. We’ve had egg kedgeree for breakfast, our sons playing with the kids in the camper next door, then once we’re all ready we’ll plan who to go and see today.

SomethingNastyInTheGenePool · 24/06/2023 10:00

Morning! Sound like some lovely days planned.
I’m about to hop in the shower, and then when DD’s carers arrive, DP and I will scoot off and do some shopping and get lunch.
I have not one but two parties to go to this afternoon. I’ve been stressing about the logistics - they’re both the other side of London from me, but not that close to each other. I think I’ve now decided which one I’ll go to first!

PurpleSky09 · 24/06/2023 10:01

Morning all

Got up early this morning and had a tidy round with a cup of tea.

About to get dressed and am then heading off to our local town with DP just to have a look round the market and see if anything takes our fancy. We'll have a walk round and get some lunch somewhere.

Have no plans for this evening so will get some wine from the shop and might see if there's anything on TV that takes our fancy. Might put Glastonbury on if there are any clips on iplayer.

Have a good day all

riotlady · 24/06/2023 11:35

Morning :) got a lie in til half 8 this morning so feeling chipper :) Took DD to dancing, popped to the shop, gave the bathroom a wipe and ran the vacuum round. FIL and SIL are coming round for a BBQ for lunch so DH is busy pottering in the kitchen making chicken skewers.

Need to do DDs reading homework but she’s playing a very involved imaginative with her Barbies so I’m loathe to disturb her just yet. Guess I will just have to lounge on the sofa with mumsnet a bit longer!

Decafflatteplease · 24/06/2023 13:07

Morning well afternoon now @lucysmam so glad to hear you are still feeling good!

We are having a really cosy, quiet home day and it's lovely! We were out at an event last night so all tired today. We've just been pottering, one teen revising, other DC are a mix of playing, reading, garden etc.

I'm about to have an afternoon bath which feels very decadent!

Lasagne for dinner later then DH and I are on a virtual wine tasting thing tonight on zoom, we've been sent the samples in the post, I've got the recommended snacks to go with them and we are really excited! Bit of a lockdown vibe about it though 🤔 it is of course all a ploy to get us to buy the actual wines of course 😂

coxesorangepippin · 24/06/2023 14:01

Morning all!
Love your threads, lucysmam 😃

We have just been out for breakfast, it was very nice. Back at home now and it's raining so not sure how the day will pan out. DS is at cub camp, he's back tomorrow afternoon. May do some cooking with DD, and probably some tidying

lucysmam · 24/06/2023 17:01

We're just in & surprisingly, I'm not knackered yet! I even managed to remember to post a birthday present that's been needing to go to The Netherlands for 4 months 🙈🤣

Prom shoes and jewellery bought for the princely sum of £8! I treated dd to some shimmer spray, new bronzer and hair gems since they were so much cheaper than expected. And she got her brows done too. She's toying with taking a pair of sliders (that she will need to buy) for if her feet get sore in the sandals. Dd2 got make up, jewellery and shoes too.

We found a Polish bakery stall on the market too & I treated us all to some HUGE pastries - they were only £4.50 which really surprised me but they're well worth it 😋

I've had a ball & am currently enjoying a vanilla bubble tea in peace while I cook 🧋

We've decided on sausages, chips and beans/corn on the cob for tea. Then it's time to stop for the day.

Hope you've all had a nice day 😊
