Social media and islam

I don’t know who will read this but I just wanted to put my thoughts into words and see if I’m alone on this

social media recently has impacted my faith - im a Muslim revert, born in the uk very much English. I found the religion beautiful and it just sat right in my heart. What I’ve noticed though is social media is negatively impacting my faith

the rules around men being loose and allowed to marry another woman just for sex and keeping it a secret, the constant standards that never seem to be good enough for anyone - it really had me questioning myself which is upsetting

in reality, it’s culture. Yes a man can marry more than 1 wife but the rules are strict, all must be treated equally or it’s a sin. If you’re bonking one wif and it pleasing the other, if you’re openly lying about having another wife, sin. If a man really wants another wife just for sex, imagine the pressure about treating them equally financially, kids etc, just for sex ?! That’s dedication. At the time of writing this particular ruling I believe there was a war, and husbands /men would die. It makes sense and is of good heart to take on another wife who is a widow. Have we just added that yes a man can marry for sex just because it doesn’t say it’s a sin in the Quran?

I just think it paints women in a bad light, you don’t need to care about the woman men do what you want. But in reality Islam is a peaceful and kind religion, and its individuals who skew this to their benefit.

did that make any sense ? It’s all such a personal journey but I feel like Islam is just painted so badly.
