Is this how jet lag feels?

Flew back from Mexico on Tuesday evening landing yesterday, it’s my first proper long haul holiday. I feel very bizarre at the moment! Yes I’m tired as I didn’t sleep much on the plane but also feel weirdly achey, a bit shaky and have no appetite even though again I didn’t eat much on the plane either. Also my stomach is all over the place. Is this how jet lag feels? I’ve forced myself to stay awake today although I woke up very late after being wide awake between 3am - 6am!

It can be, yes. See how you feel tomorrow. Obviously you could also have picked up a bug of some sort. But you can feel pretty rough with jet lag.

It could be, but Mexico is also good friends with many strains of food poisoning.

When I'm really, really tired I can feel quite unwell - sick, cold, irritable.

Drink plenty, force yourself to bed at a reasonable time and make sure you wake up at a decent hour tomorrow and get plenty of daylight.

I seem to be an anomaly in that I feel worse when I fly from west to east.

It could be. If you haven’t eaten properly for 24?hours too it won’t help. I was long haul cabin crew. I say eat something- with a bit of all food groups if you can, include some carbs. Get out in the daylight and fresh air and go for a walk, then have an early night. Might take you a few days to get back to normal.

If you don't get a good nights sleep tonight, go to Boots tomorrow and buy some over the counter Sleepeaze . Used for a couple of nights, they really help me get over jet lag.
