Learning to live with arthritis

I was diagnosed with arthritis in both knees in my early fifties.

I lost weight and did lots of exercise and have been almost pain free for a few years.

Now all of a sudden it's back. I can still walk several miles a day, but getting up and down the stairs is really hard. I feel 10 years older and know I will become miserable if I can't get out and about due to mobility issues.

Just wondering how others have learned to live with their arthritis.

Used to have OA pain in my knee. Keep my weight down, walk a lot and do squats and strength training. No pain at all since I gave up meat - I still eat limited dairy and lots of fish and plant protein. Also take a good multi vit, omega 3,6,9 and additional vitamin D. Works for me!

Also a fairly anti inflammatory diet, with lots of veg, fruit and salad.

Very little alcohol too.

If it is worse during damp/wet/cold weather, invest in a dehumidifier.

A friend has arthritis quite young, she has found an anti inflammatory diet has worked well for her

@HonorHiding I'm waiting on an MRI but certainly have an issue in back of neck adjoining spine and shoulders- but not in spine generally . If I carry a bag of anything but a featherlight weight I can feel it immediately and it gives me back of the head headaches- it's incredibly unpleasant and painkillers don't really touch it- the only thing I've found that helps is menthol cbd gel and a soft cervical collar for a few hours every day if I'm in the house. Bio freeze too helps for a short while- no wonder so many pensioners look bloody miserable!!!
