Where to go for career advice at 50

Has anyone had a complete change of career later in life? I trained as a teacher straight out of school but after nearly 30 years I’ve had enough. Have been working as a TA for the last six years but the pay is rubbish and the work is hard. But my degree is in teaching so I have no idea what I could do.
I feel I could still have a productive 10/15 years in me but I have no clue where to start. Any advice would be great.

Feel like the prison service would not be more stressful at this point. Was told to go f**k myself by a 4 year old today. Have started looking at local retail/hospitality jobs.

Have you looked at jobs in your local authority education services/outreach work.

Google career coach and take it from there. They can help you work out your values/passions/strengths and how that can be channeled into a new career

Do you have a family to support, mortgage to pay etc? Could you afford to travel or volunteer abroad and take some time out?

So you want nothing to do with kids in your new role? There might be education roles in museums, charities, hospitals, libraries etc that would be rewarding but less full on. Or moving to a different school/area? Seems a shame to stop using such a long period of experience. What about being a childminder or nursery worker?

My aunt (aged about 65) does supply teaching after a long career, she loves it because you do the fun stuff without the paperwork and responsibility. Would that work?

If you're aiming to get away from rude people, hospitality and retail might not be the way to go!

Have a look at some of the insurance companies / pay well and have good benefits and lots of opportunities to move up - flexible working hours as well.

Civil Service jobs in education might be a good start.
