Thinking of going to Somerset over the summer holidays and want some suggestions on what to wondered if anyone has any suggestions for while we are there that is

  1. suitable for an ambulatory wheelchair user (can manage a few steps with assistance)
  2. fun for kids (4, 5, 6 & 7)
  3. is within around a half hour drive of Weston Super Mare

We've got Weston Super Mare/ Funland and Noah's Ark Zoo Farm on the list so far. Thanks!

Tyntesfield National Trust is in the area you are looking for https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/bath-bristol/tyntesfield

You could try the boating lake at Portishead which is flat and suitable for wheelchairs. There are lots of children's activities there as well including an open air swimming pool.

Tyntesfield | Somerset

Visit Tyntesfield, a spectacular Victorian Gothic Revival house with gardens and parkland near Bristol, cared for by the National Trust.

Weston museum is pretty good and has some interactive displays, my grandsons aged between 11 and 6 love going there.

I second Puxton Park, it's perfect for kids those ages. From memory I think it's pretty flat around the site so wheelchair access should be ok.
Tyntesfield is lovely but it's on a hilly site and the best kids playgrounds are up in the woods and so not really accessible for a wheelchair.

Yeovilton air museum ?

Noah's ark zoo is great, but it is not completely flat. It can be a killer pushing a pushchair around there. Puxton park is ok, Berrow beach is nice, brean splash & theme park, unicorn fest in Bristol. We love Cheddar gorge, stop and the riverside inn for something to eat.

Westonbirt Arboretum is excellent for wheelchair users - they have an accessible treetop walk. It's amazing!

Tyntesfield as PP suggested is interesting as they have the original Victorian lift in the boise, but the grounds are very steep and I struggled even with assistance.
