I am reaching out to seek your advice and insights regarding a decision I am currently facing: whether to move to Thame or Wokingham. I have researched both locations extensively, but I still find myself uncertain about which one would be the better fit for me. I would greatly appreciate your input and guidance on the matter.

  3. Community: Could you shed some light on the sense of community and social dynamics in Thame and Wokingham? How welcoming and inclusive are the residents? Are there active community organizations, clubs, or groups that foster social interactions?
  4. Housing and Cost of Living: What is the housing market like in Thame and Wokingham? Are there affordable options available? Additionally, how do the overall costs of living, including transportation, utilities, and amenities, compare between the two locations?

Your request is rather strangely worded. Like you've just copied and pasted it from elsewhere.

If you tell us what your 'field of interest' is then we might be able to offer advice. Providing details of my field is unlikely to assist you.

Education and healthcare, if applicable?
If you've already done extensive research, you will know already if these are applicable. Likewise major transportation hubs?? If you've looked at a map you'll know where Thame and Wokingham are in relation to bigger towns and cities.

What kind of jobs are you looking for? Where are you currently working, will you need to commute to there still from your new location? Do you have kids, how old? Private or state schools? Do you drive? Or are you reliant on public transport ? Are you looking to buy or rent housing, what is your budget? How big a house do you need?
What are your priorities for your new location? What is it you don't like about your current location that's making you want to relocate?

I think we need a few details about your actual circumstances to give relevant info .

This reads like it’s been written by ChatGPT.

As PP said, we need to know more about your personal circumstances and what’s important to you.

Location of both / transport connections can be found on Google Maps.

For housing, look at Rightmove.

sounds like ChatGPT has decided to settle in Thame or Wokingham!

JessicaMum1 · 20/06/2023 21:07

xyzandabc and LorraineInSpain thank you for your response. I will give you a bit more information about us. We are planning to buy property, and our budget 650k. Current location West London. Two kids under 10 years old. Aim to find a quieter location with less traffic, and good state schools. As I know both areas have good schools. Wokingham is a bit greener. (But I worry about the Travelers community in Wokingham. With these circumstances which location you would go for? Regarding work, we are commuting occasionally to London but not daily. Thank you in advance.

Have you visited both of these places? If not, i'd recommend to make a day trip. Lot of your questions you should be able to do basic research to find answers. One thing I'd say is that Wokingham is close to Reading/ m4 corridor so lot of companies around, especially in tech.

LorraineInSpain · 20/06/2023 21:29

I am a bit confused why you are worried about the travellers’ community in Wokingham.

AFAIK there’s sometimes caravans on fields and car parks that shouldn’t be there, but that happens in a lot of towns. I haven’t heard of that being a big issue in Wokingham recently (have family there who would have mentioned it)

Not yet it isn't. If it was your post would be indistinguishable from others, but it can be spotted a mile off.

Suggest you go and stay in both places really. I have spent time in Wokingham visiting in the past and used to live in Thame. There is more to do in Wokingham, but Thame has a more relaxed place.

yes we have been to both places and both are nice that is why we are on the fence.

Ok that's good. Were you not able to pick up any of the answers to your questions from your visits?

JessicaMum1 · 20/06/2023 21:51

Maybe simplify this: and make this more of a poll. The question would be if you were in my place as described above and given a budget, which place you would choose W or T, and why? Greatly appreciate all your answers.

If we had a clear winner I would not be asking the community here😁

Honestly, both are nice. Schools are great and connections to London are great.

Thame is possibly a little smaller and the houses closer together, which makes it easier to walk around- that's better if you have teenagers. Traffic is also less of a problem, and house prices are probably slightly cheaper.

But then, there is a bit more to do in Wokingham, and it's closer to some of the big centres like reading and Bracknell.

Why don't you see where it is you get a job and then decide that way?
