Sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasn’t sure where to post!

We’re off to the Harry Potter Studio tour this weekend after having it booked for ages!! Me and ds7 are massive fans! I was wondering does anyone have any tips? Or things we must do while we’re there? Ds is beyond excited (as am I!!) so any tips to make it even better and ensure we don’t miss anything would be greatly appreciated!

It's amazing OP - you will love it!! The only thing I would mention is that the gift shop is pricey so it's a good idea to set her expectations beforehand if you are on a budget, to prevent disappointment. In particular - is she allowed to spend £30 on a wand?

Twinningaround · 20/06/2023 13:25

@SnapPop Ahh you’ve made me even more excited! Yes I have read that about the gift shop, so have planned to end up spending a bit here - I’m sure it will still hurt to spend that much on things like a wand though 😂

Lots of people dress up / wear HP themed clothes.

1 butterbeer between you all is plenty.

You can't go backwards (or couldn't when we went a few years back) so don't leave a room before you have seen it all.

@TeenDivided I have Harry Potter themed jewellery to wear 😂

I think we’re booked on the 9:30am tour (or 9am I’ll need to double check!) is it correct that we don’t have to stay with the tour? We can go around at our own pace?

Yes, you go around at your own pace. There’s loads of information to read about the making of the films, plus video screens everywhere. It takes ages if you read every little detail, so you may want to let your DS set the pace. My DD (9) wanted to watch all the videos, but not necessarily read all the text.

First stop is the Great hall. You go in with your tour to that.
Then you are shepherded out of there after a set time, and after that can take as long as you like.

EVHead · 20/06/2023 13:59

Take your time, look around, take it all in.

It's amazing - we live in Scotland and have been about five times!

A few new sections have been added in the past few years so you’re seeing it at a good time.

The cafes are very expensive. But the chocolate ice cream is stupendous

Twinningaround · 20/06/2023 18:55

Thanks everyone! I can’t wait!

After the Great Hall, when you're in the main part of the tour (where lots of sets/props are before the Forbidden Forest, after which you can't go back again) go and do the green screen things (broomstick, daily prophet front page or whatever else they may have changed it to now) quickly if you want to do them, then you can leisurely look around and wander that part for as long as you like. Otherwise, the queue gets very long!

Have been twice. Second time had the audio tour which was better for the DC as there is so much to read otherwise
