How old is too old for a dummy?

DH seems to think that DD (11 months) needs to stop having a dummy now due to being "too old" for one. I'm happy for her to have it a little longer, but it made me wonder what age is the norm for weaning children off dummies. Two? Three? Im a first time parent so this is all very new for me.

11 months? I thought you were going to say 4 or something! 11 months is fine!

I'd say two.
You want it out when they really start talking, for clear speech and so as not to affect the shape of the teeth coming down. Toddlers can get VERY attatched so really keep it to naps only if you can :)

Having said that two of my children were dummy addicts (the other two never had one ) .. DD1 had her night dummies prised off her aged 3 yrs and 10m and DS2 has autism and had his at night for many years... not due to lack of trying to get rid of it I might add!

But 11m is fine!!

Mine is 6 months and I hope to have it gone by the time he's 1. He's only ever had it for sleep.

By 1 is the advice. I think it's a good idea to ditch it now before she gets too attached/it starts to impact speech.
