In the oven after cooking it?

Im tired, really need an early night. Lasagne in the oven cooking and will finish about 9pm.

could I turn it off and leave the oven closed up overnight so it cools slowly then cover and refrigerate it in the morning?

I don’t want to have to wait up until it cools 😩

I wouldn’t. I just cool stuff in cold water in sink. Doesn’t take long.

Just stand it in a sink that has some cool water in (a few minutes after getting it out of the oven, not immediately). Change the water every 5-10 mins until it’s cool enough to go in the fridge. Leaving it in your oven is a crazy idea. Perfect bacterial breeding ground.

No way, you can’t smell bacteria and this weather is very hot. Buy a takeaway tomorrow, or a ready meal. Think of it this way. How much would you pay tomorrow NOT to have an upset stomach, if you found yourself with one. The cost of a ready meal. Suffer the loss of the lasagne or wait for it to cool if you must keep it

I would not leave it in the oven to cool overnight. Out on a counter, on a rack, with a tea towel over

Gateappreciation · 19/06/2023 21:48

I would get it out if the oven, cover with foil, and leave it to cool naturally (out of reach of dog).

Thanks for the cold water hack, I placed the dish in the oven tray which is a bit deeper and continuously ran cold water into the tray, tilting it slightly so the water ran back out into the sink. Was cool enough to handle the dish after 10 minutes and it’s now been covered and gone into the fridge. Thanks all.

What a brilliant way to have done it!
