Theme park days out tips/hacks/snacks

I am determined to be organised for our holiday this year which involves 3 days at a theme park abroad, rather than shoving stuff in a carrier bag, forgetting spare clothes for kids so they moan when they get wet after log flume etc...

So far on my list I have:

  • change of clothes per DC inc pants
  • small microfibre towel for drying off after rides
  • 2 x large water bottles for refilling
  • coin purse for change for rides (if any arent included)
  • cooling spray (will be august)
  • sun cream
  • plasters in case of cuts or blisters
  • baby wipes and tissues
  • mobile power bank

Snacks are a bit trickier as we will have travelled overnight to get there so nothing which needs refrigerating. Im thinking:

  • cereal bars
  • pringles
  • raisins
  • dried apple rings
  • chocolate filled pancakes/crepes

Any tips and suggestions welcome!

Re transporting stuff to Europe... DH took a cool box in the car on European recently and no one even looked twice.

That should say on Eurostar

They do random checks. £1000 fine if you’re caught with dairy, meat or fresh fruit/veg.

Thanks for replies- definitely insect repellent as I am prone to getting bitten!

It's Efteling in the Netherlands. DC are 6 and 10 so not little but still not at that age of just merrily going with the flow so some prep needed.

I'm not sure nipping to a supermarket will work- we will be really tight for time as only 2 days there so want to make the most of it and schlepping kids to the shop always takes an age.

Just zoom to the shop alone, in and out and back to hotel wny the time they've finished their breakfast.

Doesn't have to be complicated!

Do the water rides last. Then back to the hotel. Or if its mega hot, do them first and dry out as the day goes on.

Have you been to Efteling before? We went a few years ago and it's awesome but I wouldn't overthink it. The food quality is great, plenty of tables in restaurants to sit and eat. Queues for the rides were nowhere near the scale of UK theme parks, at least they weren't when we went in August. Have a great time and enjoy.

Bagels and a tube of Primula are pretty travel proof. Put them together just before you you eat them.

Download the Efteling app to check queuing times. There is a great mix of scary rides and calmer things to do. We went recently and took a rucksack full of food and drinks and snacks. Bags were not checked on entry. There are hot dog stands, restaurants and ice cream and drink places dotted all over. Queues are not too bad compared to Alton Towers type places here. There is a Raven show on a few times a day and a lovely water fountain show to music. Everyone was walking around eating homemade sandwiches. Small queues for food and drinks. If you have bags that you can't take on rides you hand them in at the front of the queue and they give you a rubber bracelet to wear which you hand back at the end and get your bag back. We ate the food we took in with us on the lake boat ride and there are water fountains to refill bottles. Such a lovely place to go, enjoy it 😄
