Portable air con or Dyson air blade or similar?

I don’t want to spend all the money, but if it gets really hot this summer, I don’t want the sleepless nights again! I’m already a little bit too hot to sleep. Considering a portable air con unit, or maybe a Dyson thingy or something else.

What do people recommend?

Unless its an air conditioning type Dyson (if that exists?)- its just a fan. I'd read that they actually aren't as efficient at moving air as a regular, bladed fan. If that is what you want, then I'd buy one from argos/screwfix etc because the Dyson ones are disproportionally expensive.

We bought a 'portable' air con from B&Q about 12yrs ago. Its massive and heavy, but on wheels- like a darlek but really does cool a room. They are likely better now, but the one we got said it would cool X m2 of room space. I found it cooled about half this space efficiently though.

Check that the watts are and the cost to run it. We'd put ours on for maybe 30-60mins, then off due to the cost. But in that time- it cooled the room till it was almost too chilly. At night- we'd put it on before bed, set a timer to go off in 60mins, then had a regular fan on overnight.

I work from a converted shed giving massage therapy, and although we orientated it so the windows don’t get much direct sunlight and insulated it as well as we possibly could (ceilings, walls and floors), it can get hot. If there’s a breeze I can leave all the doors and windows open all day and that keeps it cool enough but on a still day I have a portable air-con unit from Meaco - the smaller one that costs £300. It’s not quiet, but it’s doable and keeps the shed at a temperature that I can work comfortably at - at least so far.

We have the Meaco ones and they’re really good.

This is good to know as I was considering the Dyson

Work is too warm so we're looking at ac units, ideally not the ones you put out the window as were are in a high floor so the windows don't open much, reading with interest

We have a Dyson. I find it as effective as an egg whisk.
