This is too good to be true isn't it... electric wheelchair

This site has popped up as an ad on my Facebook feed, there's no way that product could actually cost £35 but its such a good idea!

Has anyone seen a product like this, a rollator that converts to an electric wheelchair? Currently struggling with a self propelled wheelchair and a standard electric wheelchair is unfortunately way off budget for me at the moment.

Seems highly unlikely due to the fact a battery would probably cost more than that.

They do exist but you are looking at £3k plus, which at that price you should be looking at a proper power chair. I’m sorry you are struggling.

I doubt it. It does seem too good to be true. Would you be eligible for an electric chair through wheelchair services/ adult social care.

Thank you. I have been referred to wheelchair services through my occupational therapist, they have provided me with the self propelled while I wait as its a long waiting list. I have primary progressive MS and I'm starting to lose function in my left arm which is starting to make it impossible to use.

I will get one eventually but until I do I'm pretty much stuck in the house unless someone is available to push me. I can see why people fall victim of these scam sites out of desperation.

If your condition is progressing then it may be worth getting back in touch with your OT to see if they can hurry your referral along.

is your mobility good enough to get on a mobility scooter? People often sell those second hand more reasonably and it may bridge the gas better as long as you can get on and off and safely sit on it.

  • bridge the gap.

I've always thought mobility scooters as a bit bulky for me to manage but from what I can see some models are quite slim line and have a swivel seat to make transferring easier, definitely worth a look. I will get in touch with my OT also. Thank you.

Have you tried via your local MS Society to help fund one?
