Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just having breakfast, in my spot in the kitchen. My tea's brewing in the pot & I've got the window wide open so I can hear the birds. As always, everyone else is still sleeping but that's how I like my weekend mornings 😊

I have very little planned for today after chemo yesterday - thankfully no side effects but I'll still take it steady. I'll most likely carry on with the top I've been crocheting myself, in the garden under the parasol.

There's uniform washing to be done & a few pots, plus the floors could do with doing up and down thanks to my hair shedding, but everyone will do those together.

The girls are nipping to town for something for fathers day for their dad - he was moaning the other day that he needs socks, so probably those and chocolate (or whatever they pick really). Dd1's also decided she wants to fake tan for prom & wants me to do it so she'll be buying it so I can have a trial run!

Not sure what's for tea yet; possibly something with eggs 😋

What about all of you 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam , it's always lovely to read what everyone is up to.... it's very comforting somehow hearing about normal lives so thak you for the threads. I'm glad you're feeling OK today.

I've been to the gym this morning to do a weights session and stopped off at the bakery on the way home to pick up coffee for DH and I and a gingerbread man each for DDs as I just fancied getting them a little treat. Brought them home as a surprise and they were very happy. DDs have now eaten their gingerbread and are currently watching cartoons, still in their PJs.

I'm just chilling and on MN for a bit and then DH is taking DD1 to a party for one of her school friend's birthdays. I'm going to take DD2 into town to potter round the shops while they're doing that.

Then home and planning a quiet afternoon. I fancy reading my book and watching a film later.

DownTheRabbitHoIe · 17/06/2023 10:20

Morning @lucysmam good to hear you are feeling chipper.

I'm drinking a cup of tea with DH while filling in the thousands of forms from school for DS's trip next month. In a few minutes I'll be heading out to take DD1 to the station to get her train to London. Both her and DD2 are off to see Harry Styles at Wembley tonight.

I'll have a rummage in the freezer for something for dinner. I can't be bothered cooking fresh but there's chilli and spag bol in there.

Good morning everyone, a fairly quiet day here, we’re off to visit Papa in hospital later (he’s fine, just a small op) we won’t stay for long as despite the warm weather the heating is on and windows are shut.

This afternoon we have a rugby picnic at the park, so we’ll probably be there until mid evening unless it rains.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone

TobiasForgesContactLense · 17/06/2023 10:52

Morning all. I am about to take DS to hid swimming lesson then after lunch we need to go into the city centre for eye tests for me and DH. Pizza for dimmer tonight and a film later I think.

Tomorrow we are taking DH to a new burger place for lunch. All Dad's get a free pint of their very good beer so he is looking forward to that.

Lovely to hear about your weekends.

Silkierabbit · 17/06/2023 11:03

Good morning LucysMam Glad you can rest after chemotherapy.

DD has gone to her river tours job.

We are getting ready to put jackets in the oven for lunch to have with chicken mayo, avocado and sweetcorn.

Then we go to a May Bumps garden party this afternoon.

Oh I love these threads! I had my first proper night out since baby last night and even though I didn't drink, I struggled to sleep when I got home and I feel pretty awful today. But, DD has blessed me with a rare 2 hour morning nap at home instead of the pram, so I've had a bath, eaten loads of toast with peanut butter and banana, drank multiple cups of tea and finished my book! The house is a tip but I'm so delighted with my morning I don't care! The rest of the weekend will be chilled, walks, park, cleaning and possibly a family swim plus ofc DH first father's Day tomorrow.

OldTinHat · 17/06/2023 11:09

I'm utterly exhausted but am about to crawl off to day three of the IOW Festival.

Why on earth do I put myself through it? I'm too old for this malarkey!

inomniaparatis · 17/06/2023 11:10

@MeinKraft I recommend the Island Home by Libby Page!

ssd · 17/06/2023 11:15

I haven't been on these threads for a while, im sorry to hear you are going through chemo treatment but all the best @lucysmam

lucysmam · 17/06/2023 11:17

@OldTinHat have a fabulous time at IOW festival! Me and dd will be finding somewhere to stream some of it.

Thanks @ssd , I appreciate it!

Thanks @lucysmam - I'll wave a feeble hand to you at the cameras if I get near one!

Chemical Brothers tonight until just before midnight. DS wants to see Example which go on past 1am so I'll leave him to it and crawl home at that point!

BCSurvivor · 17/06/2023 11:26

Morning!
Well, after a late night baking session for Father's Day I'm currently sat in bed pondering a relationship with the lovely postie!
We've been flirting a while, but I'm so out of touch with relationships, sex, the whole caboodle really, after eight staunchly single years and nearly a year of breast cancer treatment.
So, I'm pondering over a chocolate brownie or three.
The chemo was 5 years ago, but the idea of getting back out there as a fully fledged menopausal woman with a chemo and meds ravaged body is daunting.
On the plus side, my lovely cat has returned from sleeping in the allotment next door to my bed again, now that the weather changed!

crossstitchingnana · 17/06/2023 11:28

I'm also heading out to IOW Festival. First time I have gone. I'm having fun but, never again. The HOARDS are doing my nut in. Also, hate most of the main stage acts. Don't know why I bought a ticket! Never mind, at least there's cider. 🤣

Tarkan · 17/06/2023 11:33

I had a lovely lie in and I'm now enjoying a coffee while watching Trooping the Colour.

DD1 is off to a convention today so is currently getting dressed up as some random anime character.

Other than that it's just going to be housework. I'm still recovering from a horrible stomach bug which I'm worried DH is now coming down with.

Bookist · 17/06/2023 11:37

Both our DCs are at university so we're empty nesters now. Had a long lie in and currently enjoying second cup of coffee on the sofa. DH has popped into the office and I'm meeting him later for lunch. Then we're off to choose bathroom tiles for a house we're flipping and I guarantee we won't agree. Tonight I'm going to my closest friend's 60th birthday dinner so a lovely chance to get dressed up and DH is being my taxi so I can hit the cocktails.

Popetthetreehugger · 17/06/2023 11:44

So glad lucysmam your feeling on good form 💐 I’m on train home from DDs , went Thursday after work , Looked after lovely DGCs . This afternoon we’re looking at our mad boat buy . It’s going in the river tomorrow, and to be fair we’re slightly panicking at what we don’t know ! A boaty friend is coming to actually do the deed . DH has booked himself on a 2 day course ,so we shouldn’t be bothering the coast guard 🤞🤞

mondaytosunday · 17/06/2023 11:52

Not a lot! I have watered the garden beds and put the sprinkler on the small bit of grass we have - I anticipate a hosepipe ban eventually and after spending £7000 having it all landscaped last year only to see half the plants die last summer I want to give these new plants a fighting chance!
Daughter is lounging around in her room - just finished her A levels a few days ago - the relief! She has a busy week next week so just chilling today.
I need to do some work on my Etsy shop which I've neglected last couple days - and OP I need to finish a couple crochet projects too!

CaramelicedLatte · 17/06/2023 12:12

Morning @lucysmam! Glad to hear your treatment is progressing well and I hope you stay side effect free for as long as possible!

It's a quiet one in the Latte household today. DH and I had a bit of a lie in, then he took Ddog down to daycare for the day. He brought McDonald's breakfast home as well as filling my car with petrol for me, so I've decided he can stay another week. Wink

DS1 has only recently emerged from his pit, I suspect he intends on wallowing in it all day. 15 year olds are gross, but I'm going easy on him this weekend as he has GCSE exams next week (year 10, they do a couple a year early). DD and I popped to stock him up with stationery for it yesterday as he's a nightmare for losing everything!

Today, DS2 and DD are creating some sort of minecraft universe by the sounds of things. DD is off on residential camp with school next week, so she and I will be packing shortly and making sure we get any last minute bits she needs washed clean for tomorrow. She's never been away this long before and I'm going to miss her so much! She's very much the baby of the family, being the youngest. Her brothers are delighted for the peace though!

We're having home made chicken burgers for dinner, a gousto recipe we're recreating ourselves. Then we'll probably take turns popping in the hot tub for half an hour before DH empties and deflates it tomorrow. Silly Putin has made it impossible to afford having it running for very long anymore!

minsmum · 17/06/2023 12:13

Off to my DDs engagement party soon
