Fillings

I went to a hygienist yesterday and she said that once the plaque had been removed from one tooth it revealed a deep hole.

She filled it which was fine but it's been sensitive ever since the numbing wore off. Is this normal? It's my first filling so no idea

Totally normal.

Hygienists can only place temporary fillings for the situation you describe. They are not allowed to do fillings per se. Presumably she/he has uncovered some decay during your hygiene appointment, so there must be a plan for a permanent filling and to remove the decay with the dentist? After that, the sensitivity should be alleviated

She is also my dentist. So can do both. It's definitely a proper filling .

Ahh...you said hygienist in your opening post...glad you've clarified that. In that case, it can be totally normal to experience some sensitivity after a new filling has been placed, especially if the decay was deep. Usually goes after a few days.

Thank you for that. Glad to know it should settle 🙂
