Tesco - anyone else?

Has anyone else’s Tesco stopped doing certain products?

milk 6 pints seems to have gone
smaller range of own brand alternatives

struggling to think of specific products but just seem to be noticing less Tesco branded products.

have also found that price per kilo, where it would usually be cheaper to buy the bigger one, some products the smaller versions are working out cheaper on price per kilo eg their own brand washing powder, instant coffee.

might just be my shop (north Scotland) but wondered if happening across stores

Yes haven’t been able to get a 6 pint of milk for 5ish weeks

Marchintospring · 15/06/2023 22:40

Its a way of reducing supply problems. Rather than all the stores having 20 6 pints ( which would be less than a days supply they delist the item from one stores so other stores have stock.
Our store was missing eggs, garlic and cornflour for months ,whilst I could still order online which is packed in a different store.Back in stock last week at ours.
Stuff comes and goes.

I've been noticing it for a while now.

It's really annoying when they take their own cheaper item off the shelf leaving the branded, way more expensive one....in our local Tesco we no longer have tesco own brand
Rinse aid
Snack a Jack alternative
Caramel biscuit bars
Oat and nut cereal flakes
Granulated stevia sweetener

I'm sure there's others. They have these in the branch five miles away, so it isn't that they're having production issues. They just think us lot in our town don't deserve a choice 🙄

I can’t figure out the prices in Tesco any more anyway. Everything is a “club card price” but only on certain sizes and difficult to work out how that compares to others

TheFlis12345 · 15/06/2023 22:46

I have actually noticed a marked increase in the number of items in the ‘Stockwell’ value range over the last few weeks. I regularly help out with some basic catering for a local event and have managed to get more of the basics (bread / mayo / marg etc) for our budget in the last couple of weeks.

HelloSunshine12 · 15/06/2023 22:51

Their dry shampoo is gone Sad

I hate the Clubcard prices. I don't like selling my data to them and didn't used to use a Clubcard for that reason, but the savings are often so big you almost have no choice nowadays. It feels a cynical way to force people to hand over their data in return for more affordable food. Doesn't sit comfortably with me at all.

GottaGirlcrush · 15/06/2023 23:07

I guess the branded is a higher profit margin

I doubt it's just Tesco

WunWun · 15/06/2023 23:09

At Christmas they overflowed their shelves with potatoes, all in different packaging etc... but they were all Maris Piper 😵‍💫

Rainbow1612 · 15/06/2023 23:09

Our local stopped doing any of the fresh bakery bread in wholemeal/granary etc.
Literally everything is white only.

Crinkle77 · 15/06/2023 23:11

There are supply issues with Morrisons own brand products too. You go the shelf and there's just an empty space.

crossstitchingnana · 15/06/2023 23:11

My Tesco never has any eggs.

This is a myth, you know. do you really believe that any company is going to pay another company to find out that the Liam household prefer lemon scented loo cleaner to pine?

oh please.

KEG973 · 15/06/2023 23:15

I think it’s that a lot of people have switched to own brand products I’m the current financial situation. I know I have and I previously would have bought branded food, now a lot of it is just far too expensive so the demand for own brand is very high

SunnyDaysAndEndlessNights · 15/06/2023 23:19

Supermarkets are driving the online side of the business, that's where they take more money, they will keep smaller stores open only.

Hecate01 · 15/06/2023 23:51

@Allthegoodnamesarechosen really? I thought it was common knowledge that Tesco admitted selling Clubcard data for £53 million?
