Really need a handhold - how can I keep carrying on?

I know no-one can really help and I am going to do an econsult for my GP to try and get some medication to help. But I am just so so anxious and not sure how I am meant to manage day to day with this level of anxiety.

DD was diagnosed with an eye condition 5 years ago after a routine trip to the opticians. I feel like my life changed that day. I went from being a pretty happy and optimistic mother to a fulltime worrier who thinks about this eye condition and the implications for dd everyday. I’ve posted before and other posters breezily say their dc have it, it’s no big deal etc but I don’t understand how they can downplay it so much.

Today DD had an appointment at the eye hospital due to headaches and they said her eyes were fine and weren’t causing the headaches. Came home, felt ok but then the doctor rang me and said they had no notes for dd. When I explained about her eye condition he said she will have to come back for another eye test. He himself checked her eyes and I told him about the swollen optic nerves but he didn’t say anything. So for him to ring and say she needs another appointment has my anxiety spiralling. He said it could be 5 months for an appointment so more time to worry.

I don’t know how I can carry on with this constant anxiety. I’ve been living with this worry for 5 years but it all just feels too much now.

How do other people manage? I think I need anxiety medication although doubt this will stop the 24/7 worry.

I'm so sorry that sounds really hard to deal with. I can't give any advice about your daughter, but I do know how it feels to be worrying about something when you feel you have no control over it anyway.
Talk to your GP because they might be able to help you. Anxiety medication might be worth a try, if it will help you cope day to day
