Python coding advice?

Hi, I have a 12 yo Dd who is very keen to learn python.

There seem to be loads of online courses but I can’t tell if any of them are any good.

I think ideally she would do a one or two week course in the summer doing maybe 2-3 hours a day (maybe this is too much/too little, I really dont know, but she is very keen).

Does anyone have any advice/recommendations, please?

I am just learning python through a work apprenticeship. We're using learning based on Python for everyone https://www.py4e.com/

Haven't got far enough to say if it's any good but that's what I'm training on!

w3schools is good

Hi, if she creates an account on repl.it she can access free training there. There's a fab course on there called 100 days of code which is for complete beginners and includes a video tutorial for each challenge

I can't help thinking that if she is likely to be successful she has already found enough out to start. My own daughter aged 15 has a Raspberry Pi and a laptop and just Googled for tutorials etc over the last couple of years.

Does her school do Computer Science or similar? The teacher there might be able to suggest some resources.

I'm learning online in an adults course but supplementing with some free online courses to practise. Here's one... https://www.educative.io/courses/learn-python-3-from-scratch

I also find it helpful to actually code some projects. You might find some books in your local library that could get her started too. Free and sometimes much easier to use when it's physically next to you.

SheCodes or CodeAcademy are good online places to start! If she hasn’t already, recommend her learning basic HTML and CSS first as a good foundation :)

Hi - I know this is a bit late, but just popping back to say thank you all for the tips.
