Is the Dyson Pure Cool Purifier good at actually cooling?

Just wondering if anyone has the Dyson Pure Cool Purifier and whether it’s good at cooling a room in this heatwave?

I’m 38 weeks pregnant and desperate for something to keep me cool / baby cool when they’re here but I worry because it’s a purifier, that’s the main function and not the cooling element which I’m more bothered about.

Well I love mine .... but, I have to honestly say that a fans a fan and its not going to be the same as using an air conditioner. DH suffers with terrible hayfever and it defo makes a difference in removing air particles. Is it worth the hefty price tag....probably not, but like I say, I love mine, especially in this weather!

I love mine. I've had it about 5 years now. There is no way a normal fan would have lasted that long. It's good. I think it's worth the money anyhow.

As a side note: the best way to clean it is to use one of the mini vacs (stairs or car type) on it to suck the dust out of it. It needs to be done regularly to keep it in optimum condition

Thank you! We’re lucky enough to not suffer with hayfever so the purifying element is a bonus but would you say the fan part is just the same as any other tower fan?

Well it would be better than a normal desk fan, but im not sure if its better than other tower fans on the market. I bought mine in during lockdown so it was a bit of an impulse purchase because I wouldnt really justify spending that amount of money on a fan. But, now I have it, I wouldnt be without it. Not sure that answers your question!. I guess your buying into a brand and other brands are available, question is are they as good as the 'original' .... probably not 🤣🤣

Fans can't actually cool air.
Fans can only push air over your skin and the moisture in your skin evaporates and makes you feel cool.
An efficient fan can do that efficiently, but leave it in a closed room and it'll do exactly the same as any other fan, move the air around.

AC works by venting the air and drawing in cooler air from outside.

The Dyson fans contain several very efficient small fans in a funky plastic case, that's all they really are, they are very efficient at moving the air around though.

Placement of fans I reckon is more important than the fan itself, window sill with window open to draw cool air in works well if it's cooler outside than in. Low to to the floor angled up near a doorway also circulates cool air well. Moist shemagh hung in front of a fan with air passing through also helps a bit. Also a moist shemagh wrapped around shoulders and neck helps a lot.

Me waffling doesn't help anyone though.. 😂

I have one and honestly wouldn’t say it’s worth the hundreds of pounds it costs! At the end of the day the cooling is no different than a normal fan really, just looks nicer.
