Jobs I can do very part time? Do they exist?

I need to be able to sleep during the day for a bit, so can do a max of 3 or 4 hours a day.

Ideally something like WFH admin but I can't find anything at all and I've looked for a while now (use to be in an admin type role )

I really really do not want to work with children as a TA.

Can anyone think of anything? People in the past have suggested dog walking but I don't actually have any experience in dog handling so not sure how wise this is

I've looked into ironing services but this doesn't seem very popular in my area, in addition to the cost of electric and fuel to take clothes to and from, which I imagine most people want nowadays too

Without knowing what your limitations are, what about doing something such as a shift in a cafe or a bar over the lunch break?

What are your skills ?
Self employed book keeper has been a wfh and pick how much you want to do job long before covid

I can actually think of 2 or 3 different jobs that involve working with children where you are only needed for limited times during the day (Escorting children with SEND on their taxis to school / dinner lady / covering in Private Nurseries over the lunch period / school lollipop lady) but you seem to have ruled out working with children.

What about care work ? Again, can opt in to however many shifts or calls you want to

What about cleaning ? A self employed cleaner can do as many or few hours as she wants to

DIY skills ?
Gardening ?

Domicilary Care but it isn't for everyone

Volunteering might be your best bet

Lollipop lady? Or lunchtime shift in a cafe? What about dinner lady at a school (bit different to TA, especially if it’s a secondary school)

Onlyfans?

Freelance tutoring is sometimes a pick and choose your hours thing (I do it two days a week but you can also just do the odd couple of hours and you don't always need experience/qualifications).

Set yourself up as a virtual PA?

It might take a while to come good, but once it does it will pay a lot better that dog walking or care work.

I think the OP… might need to earn money? Like people generally do.

Why be a dick?

I do admin for 4 hours a day. I applied on Indeed where you can filter for part time in your area.

JeandeServiette · 13/06/2023 00:31

4 hours a day is 0.5 of full time. It's not "very" part time OP. It's a normal PT pattern. So don't worry that it's unusual. Filtering job searches with a "remote working" toggle should bring up options.

Virtual PA

mumicandoitagain · 13/06/2023 05:38

Thank you for the suggestions :)

I have a disabled child so need to be there in the AM for his school, and then 4pm (he gets school transport) otherwise I would consider doing something like school transport team

Have you looked on the charity jobs website? There are often very part time roles which come up.

In your position I think that I would apply for any wfh admin role which is listed as 1-2 days but then negotiate for splitting them per day.

Beezknees · 13/06/2023 05:44

I used to work in a call centre and they offered 4 hour shifts from 10am to 2pm to fit in with school hours, it was cold calling though so you had to have a thick skin.

Admin could be possible if you can find a small business that only needs a few hours help a week. Again this is something I used to do, I did 20 hours a week for a local business to fit in with school but I think over 100 people applied for that role so there's a lot of competition.
