Wondering if my child is autistic?

My child is 4 nearly 5, she seems fine as a toddler by since going into reception, she is struggling, she has sensory issues with clothes and won't wear anything with a zip, anything tight and no track suit bottoms as she doesn't like the feel of it, she has mega meltdowns if I try and make her wear something like this (ie school dress)

She also is very fussy over dinner and won't eat a lot of things and have meltdowns if we try and get her to eat differently.

I also know she is struggling at school, I know she has been made to sit at the front as they felt she didn't concentrate or listen.

Any advice of where to go for support? I'm just concerned about her

Should I have a chat with the school

Definitely have a chat with her teacher, and also the sendco if you can. Before you go it might be worth making a list of your concerns, so that you don't forget to mention anything.

Thank you @Thingsthatgo will right a list

What you have described sounds more like sensory processing disorder. If she's autistic, you would also expect to see difficulties with social communication and with information processing and flexibility. Do you have concerns in these areas?

@useitorlose thank you that's interesting to know, 2 things I have concerns about at school are she only has one friend she plays with (she is in reception) and they have had to move her as she wasn't listening to them, and this is a concern at home, it takes like 5-10 times saying her name to get her attention.

I think the first thing you should do is get her hearing checked.

An occupational therapy assessment would be helpful

Thank you I will also get her on the GP when I can
