Tips for staying cool in the night - heatwave

It’s my office day tomorrow, I only slept for 5 hours last night and I’m worried I’ll have a worse night tonight and end up not feeling refreshed as it is a lot more humid today. Thermostat says it’s 27 degrees but feels a lot warmer upstairs. Best way to keep cool?

Cool damp tea towel on your legs as you sleep. If your bedroom window is open, try to have another window open on the same floor if possible and leave doors open, so the air is moving through the house. It does make a slight difference. Tepid bath before bed and a frozen ice pack for a picnic basket wrapped in a pillow case and put on your feet.

I've just bought some amazing towels from Amazon which stay cool for longer. Or something like that. Been walking round with one today and it made a huge difference. Every time it doesn't feel cool enough you shake it and it's cool again.

Have you got a fan in your room?

Have a shower before bed and leave your hair damp

Spray your body, face and neck with cold water.

Fill a hot water bottle with cold water and freeze it.

I wear a wet nightshirt, keeps me cool for ages, actually got that tip from someone on here a couple of years ago 😁

This. Especially the wet tea towel. Last summer I went to bed covered in them, like an Egyptian mummy.

Sorry it won't help for tonight but for future we have a ceiling fan. It's really quiet and great. Had it about 5 years now and it really keeps the room cool. It has 3 speeds I think and we can turn it off by remote.

I open the loft hatch so all the hot air goes through. I Keep it open for summer, it really does help.
