My DS will be 18 in September. Other than a house party, what have other people done for their 18 year olds?

Not any concrete ideas, but is there an activity he'd enjoy that you have to be 18 to do?

Drinks at The Shard
Dinner at The Ivy
Driving experience at Brands Hatch (or other racing tracks)
Musical/London theatre show
Festival tickets like Benicassim in Spain (that's what my DS did for his)
Gig tickets

Not for an 18th, but had a party here, and would like the excuse to do so again. It is small and doesn't take a huge group: novelty-automation-home-page

Camping trip with friends.
Dinner and clubbing in a local city with Premier Inn stay ( only works if they are summer born so their friends are over 18 already).
Family party separately.

With family, or friends?

With family, maybe something like a llama walk. With friends, one of those flying in a wind tunnel experiences - I know they have, or at least had, those at Xscape in Milton Keynes but other places do offer them.

DS repeated a year so was a full year older than his mates. For his 18th we did a family weekend away at a wine producing region. Cellar door visits wine tasting and a nice dinner, we liked it so much it has become an annual family tradition and he is now mid twenties.

Thank you for the ideas. He's a bit rubbish and doesn't know what he wants to do, other than something. I'd like to take him to New York for the weekend, but not sure it'll be possible. Maybe we could do somewhere closer to home - Amsterdam or Paris?

He's the oldest in his year so clubbing isn't an option really - his ex GF's dad is a bouncer on the door at the main club in town, so that rules that one out.

We often go to the theatre but there are a couple of things he'd like to see, so that might be an option.

Wind tunnel type thing could be a good shout.

Thank you!
