Supply teaching

Am interested in the daily rate supply teachers (primary and secondary) out there are currently getting, and whether you’re doing supply work through an agency or direct through schools? Do you find you get a better rate through agencies or schools? Are you/have you negotiated your pay? Do you get holiday pay? Pension? Etc…?! Do you do lots of marking?

Holiday is paid daily at about 8% which is why you are paid more than ft teachers

Agencies take a cut so schools should offer more - as it’s costing them less -

£130 ish a day here

15 years ago in London I was on £140/day. I always marked work though because I was supply I didn't bother going to the staff room so marked the morning through lunch which sped things up (much easier if in a KS1 class). As a class teacher, having a shit supply is more effort than dragging yourself in while you are half dead, so was determined not to be that unhelpful. It also meant I always got asked back so for the 2 terms I did it, ended up with regular schools.

Where is here? How do you know they add 8% holiday? Do you do this direct through schools?
