Just that really. I was going to head for the centre but I've heard they're closing it so not sure how we'd get out!

I'd avoid st Davids centre or John Lewis car parks as they get totally grid locked and take an age to get out of. There is a big outdoor ncp opposite the USW Atrium building which is probably a good bet.

The thread title made me laugh.

It reads as though you're asking Harry where he'll be parking 😂😂

Hecate01 · 08/06/2023 18:19

I've done the park and ride when I've been to concerts there, it's normally well organised with buses and pretty cheap.

If the trains are running parking at Radyr station could work - only 20 mins or so on the train from there (and two lines which go to it, valleys and city line)

booktokbear · 08/06/2023 18:38

We parked at the qpark cardiff bay when we went to he rugby, quite a straightforward walk to it. Got a good deal by pre-booking.

Thanks everyone. I was going to use St David's but I'm really put off now.

I'll have a look at the trains and car park suggestions x

I did Coldplay there 2 nights ago and we parked in the park and walk car park in Cardiff county hall down the bay. We got there at around 4 pm and it took 15 minutes to walk from there to the stadium. It cost £5. I read afterwards that the car park did not fill up completely.

LittleLegsKeepGoing · 08/06/2023 18:47

Don't aim for anything in the city centre. You'll be utterly trapped for ages.

Cardiff Bay is a 20 minute walk from the city centre, the car parks down there should be reasonable and there's main routes both East and West from there.

I'd be cautious about the trains too. Trying to get on a Valleys train to Radyr after a gig would be interesting to say the least.

Cardiff is not set up for traffic at all, but hope you have a fantastic time.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/06/2023 18:54

Certain city centre roads are closed for every big event at the Principality.

which direction will you be heading in from?

Justsaying22 · 08/06/2023 18:59

I think there are works going on on some of the train routes locally at present. I know it’s difficult to get a train after any stadium concert.

Piscesmumma1978 · 08/06/2023 19:01

Heading in from Bristol. I think the trains will be too busy.

I might book the q park as it seems far away but still close enough to walk.

I can't wait! It's a treat for my teens but I'm so excited 🤣

I’d go for the park and walk at County Hall which is a couple of minutes less walk. But do give yourself plenty of time. Way more than you think it’ll take. The motorway heading past Newport towards Cardiff is always horrendous with big events like this.

LadyBird1973 · 08/06/2023 19:14

St David's is a nightmare - was there last night for Coldplay and it took an hour an half to get out of the parking bay, let alone the car park!
Am watching this thread with interest - parking at the Bay sounds promising.

Bluebells1970 · 08/06/2023 19:17

We went to Coldplay last night and it was gridlocked just getting into Cardiff. We live in Gloucestershire, normally takes about an hour to an hour and a half but took us nearly 3 hours... it was a crawl from Newport on the M4 right into Cardiff centre.

We parked NCP (Greyfriars) in the centre but I really wouldn't recommend it.... we left just before the end of the concert and got out fairly OK though it was a bit of a nightmare with taxis lining and blocking the roads that were open closest to the stadium. Some friends parked in Dumfries car park and didn't get out of the car park until past 1am.

Thestreetshavenoname · 08/06/2023 19:21

As you’re coming from the east, I’d suggest the pay and display in West Grove or the Parade. Not quite as cheap as the park and walk but you would only need to walk up Queen Street (main shopping street) and past the castle and it will be easier than trying to exit a car park afterwards. Leave as early as you can and make a day of it if possible to miss some of the traffic around Newport and definitely avoid the St David’s car park.

NextTimeItsOver · 15/06/2023 09:42

Park in the big car park next to Newport station and catch the train.
