Food getting cheaper again?

Has anybody else noticed food prices going down a bit again? I was in sainsburys today and noticed that a pot of cream was 99p and it was definitely over a pound before. Butter has come down 10p and mushrooms and peppers have come down as well. Fingers crossed that trend will continue …

I haven't noticed yet in Asda which is where I do my main shop. I'll keep an eye out. Hope so!

I only noticed butter is down by 10p as you said. No other changes so far. I shop in Lidl and Asda.

I haven't really noticed things being cheaper but I would love them to be.

Food prices won't consistently go down. The best you can hope for is that food prices pretty much plateau and salaries catch up.

I've noticed milk and bread has gone down around 10p.

Thank you for the reminder to add butter to my shopping list!

I''ve noticed the butter is 10p less whoop de woo.

the waitrose litre bottle of olive oil i brought 2 months ago for £5 is £8 today.

I'm not doing it. I'm not paying stuipid fucking prices for unnecessary things I work too hard for my money to chuck it away.

Heinz have been the greediest bastards I've ever seen in this COL crisis. £1.50 for baked beans - their a side order for god sake - not even the main item.

HOWEVER - I have noticed that the prices of premium items like really posh balsamic vinegar and really posh olive oil - I'm talking £15 a bottle here - haven't increased in price and I can't work out why.

I agree. Recently I only saw Heinz ketchup and mayo in Asda, no other brands. I'm not paying their prices, even if I have to go without it. It won't kill me, but I'm not paying for their greediness.

While some things I have noticed are going down others still going up. I bought tesco own brand bunny crisps (pombear dupes) the other week for £1.15 trying to find other own brand crisps dc like. This week they have gone up to £1.40, a 25p increase in less than two weeks.

I noticed the butter in Sainsbury's too, we even had it on Nectar prices for £1.50 last week.
At the same time the paté we usually buy was £1 in store and 63p on Nectar price. This week I bought the same paté for £1.60.
So overall, no - I don't think the food prices are going down, I'm just hoping they stabilise a bit

Nope … I notice pack sizes getting smaller and prices staying the same so stealth rises. Couldn’t believe, last week in Tesco, that Cif bathroom spray was £2.90. I checked my previous orders and it was £2 in Feb, £2.50 end April and now £2.90, so close to a 50% increase since February. Fairy have reduced their large bottle size, Comfort fabric conditioner the same, Kelloggs making boxes of cereal smaller. I could go on … but won’t! Although to be fair, yes milk is down a few pence, as is butter and I hadn’t noticed bread but don’t buy it often.
