Show Home Etiquette

My husband and I have been discussing moving house and upsizing. Likely a new build.

We plan to view show homes this weekend to get an idea of the additional space and layout we could expect if we did. Once we have a few comparisons against our current home, we will decide whether we will put our home on the market and make the move.

However, I’m not sure of the etiquette when viewing show homes. I would prefer to view the home at my own leisure without having a salesperson follow me around every room stating facts and pressing us for opinions. Is this something they usually do or are you left to view and they will speak to you afterwards. I’m just not sure what to expect really so hoping someone may be able to advise of their experience.

With the ones I've seen they've stayed in the sales office and let us wander into the show homes by ourselves.

They stay in the office and you wander as you like.

Normally they let you wander alone.

Many people love just looking at show homes, the decor, how it's presented, the interior design. So they will leave you to it.

When you get back to the office usually in the garage they will ask what you thought and they'll try and judge at that point if you are a serious potential customer or not.
If I'm just looking for interior decoration inspiration I will tell them that so they know not to waste time trying to sell me anything. Even at that I've never had them say no you can't have a look around
