Best way to get weight back on fussy Dd after illness?

Dd has had horrific tonsillitis and is finally now able to eat again. She lost almost a kilo and she was a tiny thing anyway, meaning she’s dropped down to off the scale on the centile chart. I have a phone appointment with her dr on Friday but in the meantime what’s the best way?

I don’t want to stuff her full of junk after she’s been so unwell, but she’s still sore and is already quite fussy - won’t drink fortifying milkshakes etc so I feel a bit stuck.

When I used to be poorly when I was small my DF used to make home made rice pudding with milk, cream and sugar.

I would give her anything she fancies with extra butter etc. I hope she is soon well.

When my Dad was poorly and needed to put on weight Mum was told to add fat to increase calories but not bulk so butter, oil, full fat milk, greek yogurt, cream, cheese, nut butters, avocado etc stirred in or added to meals, whatever seems the best option. Bananas are the most calorie dense fruit so that's a good option. For a 6yo I'd have her drinking lots of full fat milk. If she's not very hungry then offer pudding an hour or two after a main meal and include cream, custard or icecream.

Sure she'll bounce back soon.

Add extra butter or olive oil where u can, full fat cream/milk. Milk shakes and a few extra treats and she will soon have weight back on.
