Magazines for preschoolers/reception age

DD (age 4 and a half, preschooler) has been getting the Cbeebies magazine sent to her by her grandparents for about 9 months now, and it seems to have changed quite a bit recently, so she's not getting the same enjoyment from it. She doesn't like colouring or drawing, and it seems there's more of that in every edition. Many others on the shelves we've looked at seem to have a similar content, so maybe she's just a bit unusual in her preferences.

Can anyone recommend any alternatives that might be better for her? The parts of the magazine she most enjoys are the stories, stickers and puzzles (particularly mazes, spot the difference and dot to dot) - so something which had more of these and less colouring in would be amazing.

Have you tried Storybox, Chirp and Storytime?

WheelsUp · 05/06/2023 14:36

Places like Wilko and Poundland often have puzzle books like dot to dot for kids her age.

Is Sparkle World still around? My daughter (now 15) loved that.
Had stories, stickers and activities.

We get a toucan box, has a magazine, stickers and two crafts. The magazine is a bit beyond my two year old but has lots of puzzles and things in!

Have you tried okido?

Wow, that's quite a few I'd never heard of, thank you! Okido looks amazing but might be better in another year when she can read and write a bit. Chirp or Storybox definitely look good. I know she'd enjoy the stickers with Sparkle World but I think it's a bit too girly for her as at present she's more into dinosaurs, Spiderman and trucks!

Forgot to say, I know we can get her a dot to dot book (and probably will do) but she loves having a magazine through the post and since my parents live some way away they also enjoy the link of sending it to her and hearing about it.

Does she like Bluey? We get so much fun out of the Bluey magazine, tends to have one colouring page but lots of sticker, craft, game ideas, spotting activities etc. Gifts played with loads too here.
