Best London Show for 4, 8 and 11yr old DC

I want to take the DC to London in the October half term to see a show and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what would be suitable for both the 4 year old and 11 year old.
DD4, DS8 and DD11. I wondered about Lion King but wasn't sure if it is 'scary' or Frozen, but not sure if 8 year old DS would like this?
Any ideas welcome!

The Lion King is amazing. Just make sure you have a route home afterwards. There wont be a taxi anywhere

Matilda is fantastic

The Lion King is better than Frozen imho, but both are good.

Others I would recommend are Wicked, Six and Matilda.

Oh and Mamma Mia too 😍

Having reread the OP, the 4 yo might be a bit scared by Wicked.

XelaM · 04/06/2023 14:10

The Lion King hands down. The other (kid-friendly) shows don't come close.

Hadn't thought of Matilda thank you.
Good to hear Lion King is as good as reviews suggest. I'd love to see Wicked but that might be without the 4 year old!

Frozen is good my 2 enjoyed it 8 and 12.

I was so looking forward to Lion King but it didn’t quite meet expectations. Frozen was fabulous so I would recommend that. Also loved Matilda and Six.

IggyAce · 04/06/2023 14:15

Matilda is fab. So is Six but there is some sexual innuendo.

Ooh Frozen back in the mix!
We might have to do a family vote!

Check minimum age requirements... Frozen and Lion King both have a recommendation for 6+ (but minimum of 4yo and 3yo) for example. But obviously you know your 4yos concentration best.

I really want to see Frozen. Unfortunately my children think they are too old!

Matilda every day

efeslight · 04/06/2023 14:25

We saw Frozen with an 11 girl and a 13 year old boy and we all loved it

Lion king was the worst show I have ever seen (seen a lot as I lived in London years) think broom sticks and cardboard head cutouts.... I thought it was rubbish - by comparison to the likes of war house where the movements of the horse are incredible.

However Matilda is great maybe a safe bet - wicked was my favourite but could be scary for a little one.

Floralnomad · 04/06/2023 14:33

My kids , when they were kids really didn’t enjoy Lion King . One of them has got quite into musicals as an adult and really enjoyed Frozen .

Circus are fun too - seen a lot of CIRQUE DU SOLEIL in the Albert hall etc .... keeps little ones entertained- but not sure if they have any on in oct

Cirque du Soleil usually comes over to the Royal Albert Hall in January every year iirc.

Matilda is also recommended for 6+ although they will admit from 4. I’d go with that over the lion king if you 4YO has seen the film and isn’t terrified of Trunchbull. Failing that then Frozen. Lion King meh, don’t get the hype at all.

Whaaaaaaat?

But then I totally don't get the hype about Mathilda. I thought it was ok, but nothing out of this world like everyone seems to make out. Also, too complicated for a 4-year-old.
