If you have vertigo/BPPV/dizziness, what helps with it?

I have Stemetil from the Dr but I wondered what other remedies people take?

I do find that ginger helps somewhat. Also sucking something that's intensely fruity.

What helps you?

My BPPV was caused by fluid in my ears after a cold. After struggling for weeks month of anti histamines sorted it. They were prescribed by the GP fexofenadine but you can get them over the counter.

Hope you feel better soon it’s an awful condition.

I have an autoimmune condition and suffer with dizziness, although I'm not sure if it's the condition or the steroids that I'm prescribed for it that are causing it. I take betahistine, 8mg 3 times a day which seems to help. It's horrible, I do sympathise!

Epley manoeuvre every time. If you can get someone who knows what they are doing to do it first couple of times even better!

over50andfab · 03/06/2023 13:52

Have you tried the Epley Maneuver for ear imbalance? Also if due to blocked sinuses - steam or neti pot. Stress can sometimes cause this as can menopause.

OTC travel sickness medication and then close my eyes for 30 mins.

SouthCountryGirl · 03/06/2023 14:00

Nothing so far. Anything the GP has given me has never really helped.

(Mine is from a head injury. Sometimes BPPV and sometimes another form where I can't stand because I'm so dizzy)

aspirin

expensivecreature · 03/06/2023 14:06

meant to say it improves blood flow to the inner ear

400mg Vitamin B2 daily, suggested by NHS consultant following a year of dizziness & nausea. Many diagnoses sort and treatments unsuccessful. Vestibular migraine has not returned.
