New kitchen cost

I have just had a quote for replacing doors on kitchen cabinets and new flooring. £11,000!!!
The guy who measured says a new kitchen would be about £20.000. Is that right?

What size, different qualities, nobody can say if that's good or not, mine is cost circa £10k without labour

Nofixedabodewell · 03/06/2023 09:27

For a full kitchen? I don’t know the sizes but it’s not a huge kitchen .

We paid 4k for a 22mm painted kitchen from DIY kitchens, so not cheap laminate.

It was 4k. We fitted it ourselves. The labour is so expensive.

We have a DIY kitchen too and dh fitted it, about 4k here. On the upside, it was the best price and looks great but we had a nightmare having to return broken and missing bits to put it all together.

Have you looked at Benchmarx or Howden?

Mydoghealsmyheart · 03/06/2023 18:26

Ours cost £20k. Units from DIY kitchens, source appliances separately. Cost included tiling, new flooring etc.

Howdens is a good bench mark for prices
get a quote for units from them

there’s often hidden cost like electrics plumbing and skips
cost can be a killer in invoice as well

I agree about the “hidden” costs. Skips, electrics, even grout all seemed so expensive.

Ours was 10k all in , approx 2 years ago. I’d recommend going to a small business as opposed to using howdens or diy kitchens.

Ours was £16K 6 years ago. But, we gutted the whole room, plastering, new floorboards, new electricity.

Also, we have a small galley kitchen, so we ended up with extra high wall cabinets, only drawer units, granite worktop and backsplash.

I would say, the work was aroudnd 50% of the total costs.

We went with an independent kitchen company as they were better in supplying non-standard units.

Nofixedabodewell · 03/06/2023 22:40

The price doesn’t include tiling or appliances. I will look at Howdens. I think it’s too much for what it is.

I just had all the doors replaced and new skirting etc for £2000 so that does sound expensive!

Haleso · 03/06/2023 23:21

We had ours ripped out and replaced two years ago. It was 20k. That was for a decent size kitchen, units, appliances, LVT flooring, Belfast sink and quartz work surfaces plus all fitting, electrical, decorating costs and a massive skip! It is not a cheap project and our units were all from a local trade company.
