I've been minding oldest daughter's children whilst she works.
Youngest has watched The Grinch continually on his tablet, wearing headphones, sunglasses and his sun hat (with neck flap). He sleeps in his sun hat, holding his sunglasses in one hand and a monster truck in the other. When the film finishes he starts 'flapping' and I have to restart it - it's his way of coping outside of his usual routine.
The other two played out in the garden watched by grandad - they were fascinated that the tadpoles in the pond have just sprouted legs.
After lunch which was cheese on toast, apples and peeled grapes (don't), I took them across to the park. The youngest stumbled in circles around the play equipment poking everything with a stick whilst the other two enjoyed the swings, slide and roundabout.
The younger two have been collected and have gone home and now we are left with our oldest grandchild who sleeps over every Friday. We have been reading Harry Potter (Philosopher's Stone) and eaten far too many Malteasers.
When she goes to bed we will talk about the dreams we've had this week and then (as usual) discuss our favourite dreams ever - the one where I was licking lampposts and upon discovering a strawberry one, I shouted 'ey up this un's gorgeous, get thissen ovver 'ere' - when I woke up my pillow was very damp and I think I was still licking it. And hers where she was flying over school dropping eggs on the people she doesn't like.
When she's settled in bed I will nip down for a hot chocolate and go and read in bed for a while and have a little unwind.
Yes - she's still up watching a cartoon/animation about penguins, chuckling so much she's now got hiccoughs.
She is six - and rules the roost, especially with regards to the peeled grapes.
Don't tell mum.
