Great Fire of London days out

We promised DD a day out in London, thinking we would go to the museum of London and look at the great fire stuff.
Only it closed for refurbishment…
other than the Monument, are there any other places in London with Great Fire stuff a 7 year old would enjoy?

This is the only one I've found

I don't know if the concrete blocks are still there. Walking around the City you can see plaques where the medieval churches stood that were destroyed during the fire, but that's not very exciting.

The Guildhall and Museum of London have online exhibitions.

Museum of London at Barbican is closed permanently - it's moving to a new location.

Museum of Docklands has recordings of an event about the Great Fire to watch on its website.

Also, have you read with her Samuel Pepys and John Evelyn's diary accounts of the Fire? Both eyewitnesses. You could then visit some of the locations mentioned.

I'm not sure about Great Fire stuff but the Museum of London Docklands is well worth a visit. It's a fantastic museum especially for kids. There are also some great lunch spots along West India Quay and shopping spots close by in the Wharf if needed.

Secondly the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich is first class and has so much history plus great for kids again, and in the park with us the best park in London with stunning views.

Both are free too! Both of those museums are on the same DLR line.

IS he interested in the gunpowder plot by any chance? If so, the immersive Gunpowder Plot experience is worth considering but it isn't cheap.

Just to say The Monument is great - you climb all the steps and get a certificate (or at least you did when my kids were small). Find a few Fire of London related locations via Google maps eg. Pudding Lane, and you're sorted.
