What's the ideal contact arrangement for you?

I'm talking about what would be ideal in your world for separated parents. Some insist on 50-50 but others don't want that. I get 2 weeknights and about 1 in 4 to 6 weekends. I still don't think this is great but its better than me doing everything. My ex wouldn't want 50;50.

I would have loved 50/50 honestly don’t get why so many hate the idea, I would have given anything for 50/50 that would have been my ideal my ex was never interested though and only sees them once a month (or less) for 4 hours max I never get a night off as he won’t have them overnight and I hear so many saying they don’t want any nights off and want to be with their kids every day 🫣

50/50 would have been my ideal as long as ds could have attended the same clubs etc.

My ex couldn’t be arsed to even see him though so I get no time off from being a single parent.

It was meant to be 50/50 but that lasted for 2 weeks.

By week 3 he was only seeing his DDs for a sat aft every other week and then even that died a death.

6 months in he wasn't seeing them at all.

Honestly - it suited me down to the ground. I never wanted to 'share' the DCs but I never made it hard for him to see them.

So i guess my secret ideal was that he fucked off and he obliged!

That was all 15 years ago. He hasn't spoken to any of his kids for 6 years now. Doesn't know one of them has a house of their own with a baby on the way. Last time he sent a xmas card he spelled one of their names wrong! 🙄

His loss. He's nothing but a joke to us.

There’s no ideal that suits everyone. There’s too many variables - what the kids want, what the parents’ relationships with the kids have been/are like, how far away parents live, working patterns, kids activities etc etc.
